An in depth look at the story and setting of this rp.
| 『 Welcome to Papillion 』 |
Within every mind there is a land the psyche explores when a body is docile, in this world there are no limits to what it may be; a castle, a hotel, or even a beach overlooking a saffron sky. Within the masses of this world reside little symbols; an on going chase, the visions of a lost love one, or even the same scene repeating itself bringing on pure horrors. To every human, each mind is different. There are no two minds ever share the same dreams. A simple sleep doesn't allow the mind's capacity to swell, grow beyond its limits. The leash back to reality shortly strung only lets the imagination run wild. Although, that leash can stretch if one can allow it, though only by means of an undisturbed sleep. This is how most people are captivated and brought to Papillion. It starts with the stages of the body shutting down, the edges of reality fraying as the long sleep sets in. It can't just be any sleep, a sleep that can not be disturbed, the comatose state. Once this state is reached, there is a reawakening. The area is completely foreign; clustered buildings strung with lights, signs, wires, specks of blue sky peek out from the cracks between towering buildings so reiteratively repaired. Practically no one pays mind to a new arrival, the whole city is full of faceless people that wander walk the streets. Some of them might respond and others hardly bother. In Papillion, the smallest of doors can lead to a vast out door forest while others to the a vast array of improbable physics. Often there are rips in thin air, as if the scene is just a mural on a wall; slowly shattering to reveal a hidden room or a new piece of reality. This is considered Papillion. To anyone, it doesn't make sense at all, but strangely it all feels familiar. There is one of the many faceless that will always stick out. Sometimes she is seen and other times she is felt. She has the warmest of smiles sparks something naive and playful. She never pays attention to anyone else but you. And as easily as she appears she can disappear. She is the pied piper. It's up to you to follow. |
| 『 What Papillion looks like 』 |
Papillion is a city, the outskirts could go on for what seems to be miles and miles of cramped little buildings. The outskirts of the city are a bit more worn down and beyond to the south are a series of cliffs that literally drop into the clouds. To the north is a thickened body of water that serves as a sort of harbor. It's filled with fisherman boats and the occasional submarine. To the west running along the harbor is a beach that runs along the edges of the water before it hits a waterfall near the south-west bend. To the east is a patch of dense forest, the trunks thickened with age. The forest stretches on, going further east eventually leading the curious wanderer back to the city. |
| 『 How to get there 』 |
The only way to grasp this collected reality is to be able to let go of all consciousness. In other words; fall into a deep sleep where one can not be awakened otherwise known as comatose. There are several ways to achieve this state, and it's safe to say not many of them fall into this state on purpose. Nevertheless the reason, as any sleep is, the brain and the spirit still thrives. Then drawing them to a separate state of reality. The first awakening might be something close to base. Awakened next to the physical body but completely detached from it. It might be in a familiar place to where reality might be; a hospital, in a car or maybe a house. The mind may try to connect it again but the efforts are futile. The body slips away; perfectly innocent in its sleep and it slowly gets consumed into the ground until there is nothing left. The Pied Piper might be there, she might not. A warm smile across her lips as she extends a hand or points out the window or to a door. Gently she beckons, tugging and pulling without a word. She may or may not choose to answer questions but, there is only one she can truly answer. "Paprika." The name bounces playfully off the tongue. As soon as she has brought you to this world, the doors to the previous shut soundlessly. As now you are successfully in the next word; the pied piper takes her leave until next time. |
| 『 Papillions Physics 』 |
Being a dream world, the physics of Papillion are heavily skewed. Not to a point where a normal dream would take you. Only the masters of Papillion, would have to be there for several years to be able to master something such as flying, but there is an obvious lifted gravity. Things such as gliding across rooftops or jumping a little bit higher are possible for anyone. There is still strength and power and it wont best people or grow. All of the abilities possessed haven't been lost. Though, they may be capped at the characters arrival due to their state of the physical body. So if a swordsman got in an accident and his arm was crushed, the same arm would have a bit of a problem. With exercise and time it can be regained The city itself is easily damageable. Things can be blown up, burned down or be broken into. Other than the permanent cracks and crumbles of the buildings, damages made by characters will piece back. It might take a day or so but down to every last speck of plaster will put itself back in its place. This goes for any items that previously exist. The exception to this is if the character themselves create the item. If there is something wanted so hard enough, it will appear. These can be destroyed by anyone. Death. Is also a constant but impermanent factor. Death may come on its own or provided by someone else. It's a common symbol in dreams that repeats itself in Papillion. If death occurs things go off like a reset button. They're sent back to where they last slept inside the world, woken up as if in a violent dream. Injury is more dependent on the person. Depending on their own personal will. Such as a stronger willed character will heal more easily. On the other hand, nerves and anxiety will slow the process of healing as the opposite will quicken it. Canon mental stability will also take play in the speed of the process. |
| 『 How to find others 』 |
It's quick to learn that this world is not full of just faceless people. There are others from different places and realities stuck in the same predicament. It will be easy to tell these people from the rest given they have a certain life to them. There is a currant that draws them to eachother, as if you can feel their life force.
