Connecting our Community and Strenghtening our Future
Fellow NWA members,
As summer begins to wind down, there is a lot to look forward to across the National Weather Association. Our Annual Meeting in Omaha is just two months away; we are expanding opportunities for students and early-career professionals to connect with the broader weather enterprise, and our work in advocacy is beginning to open new doors in Washington.
Each of these efforts reflects something I believe is fundamental to the NWA: we are strongest when we connect people, ideas, and opportunities across the weather enterprise.

The 51st Annual Meeting of the NWA is getting closer, and our Steering Committee has been working hard to create a meeting that offers something for everyone. We will gather October 17–21 at the Capitol District Marriott Downtown in Omaha, Nebraska.
If you haven’t registered yet, there’s no better time than right now because early-bird rates expire tomorrow, August 26! Members receive additional discounts, so if you’ve been thinking about joining or renewing your NWA membership, this is a particularly good time to do it.
The agenda is now available here, and it offers a terrific blend of presentations highlighting cutting-edge operational research, engaging posters and showcases, interactive workshops, and keynote sessions addressing issues important to our profession. We’ll hear about the future of the National Weather Service and emergency management, as well as the use of artificial intelligence to address weather prediction challenges and emerging opportunities for weather applications.
Learning
Our annual meeting connects the operational weather community. This is where the best of the best meet up to collaborate. Meteorologists from the government, private sector, broadcast, aviation, and military sectors attend along with emergency managers, social scientists, professors, students, and weather enthusiasts.
Exhibiting
Explore exciting new tools and services to help you do your job better. The exhibit hall provides an opportunity network with companies providing exciting services and all attendees.
Collaborating
Participate in interactive workshops to learn skills in weather forecasting and communication, and collaborate with others to improve research to operations and operations to research.
Connect with others to improve your forecast and warning skills. Collaborate on new operational meteorology techniques, tools, products and services. Get involved with NWA Committees or projects to enhance leadership skills. JOIN NOW
Publish in the NWA Journal of Operational Meteorology, present at an NWA Annual Meeting or regional meeting, or network with others who share your interest in weather at a Local Chapter meeting.
Show others you have skills that meet or exceed the standards of meteorological competency and have proven you clearly deliver weather information via television, radio or the TV/radio or the internet. LEARN MORE
