Oh Em GEEEE, you guys!

Look! Look at what mizface made me!

It's from a Christmas fic I wrote back in 2009, [Based on a True Story]. I just love Ray's little face! And Ray's raised eyebrow! And Ray's holding a Canada mug! And! And!

It was sitting in my letterbox today when I got home from work - just the most delicious treat EVER!

Thank you so much, Miz! I sent you a greetings card this very day, mere hours too soon to thank you for this beautiful illustration. I love it so much. ♥ a million :D

Surprise visitors of two very different types

On this week’s Vinyl Café episode the Story Exchange tale has an AU Fraser in it. No, really. You’ll know him when you hear it. There’s no mistaking him.

( In completely other news, the undead...Collapse )

Sun's shining, birds are singing, nothing makes me quite as chirpy as sunshine after a week of rain and only one full day of work left before Christmas holidays. Come ooooon, holidays.

What Would Sydney Freedman Say?

"Who could resist those big Colonel eyes?"

Got to work to the news Harry Morgan died. He was 96. He could make me well up just by putting a catch in his voice. I foresee a M*A*S*H marathon tribute.

RIP, Colonel. *salutes*

Smile, 1, 2, 3...

So I saw this story pop up on Twitter today (while at work, worse luck):
Comedians pose for charity photo exhibition

And I very nearly fell off my chair, because I thought for one beautiful moment that a story I read recently on AO3 had come true. I've been trying to find the story, but it's disappeared :( Happily, I printed it out for reading-in-the-sun purposes, so all is not entirely lost. It was called Charades and it featured Charlie Brooker, David Mitchell, Tim Minchin, Rob Brydon, Sue Perkins and Victoria Coren, all dressed up in school uniform and playing to the camera for a charity shoot. At the end, Charlie has to "bully" David. It's pretty hot.

As it turns out, the RL photoshoot wasn't quite so erotic, but it does feature David looking utterly adorable in his scruffy little beard and a t-shirt. He seems remarkably relaxed. Which I like.

And that was my happy moment for the day.

Too good to be true? Maybe.

According to my internet provider, this weekend is "free unmetred broadband."

They say, and I quote, that "you can ... download as much as you want. It's all unmetered, so whatever data you use is free."

So... hit me with some downloads, folks. Pretty much anything goes. I'm keen to take full and exploitative advantage of this, and my DL comm seems to have died out, so I'm open to all suggestions. Email me if you're not happy sharing links in comments (prudencedearly at gmail dot com).

Also, hi!

And now back to your regularly-scheduled internet.

ION, the glaziers in my area are doing well.

( Radio SilenceCollapse )

( Never say never. No, I mean it. DON'T SAY IT.Collapse )

( It starts, as so many things do, with David Mitchell.Collapse )

( In conclusion, Your Honour...Collapse )

So, there we are. Another small, obscure fandom and a vague sense of having no idea where I'm going with this. For all I know I'll fizzle out in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'm going swimming.

*phwom*

I went to Wiaheke Island this weekend. I spotted this on the map and it made me grin:

And with that, *phwom*, she was gone.

If you tilt your head and squint...

This is the avatar for a radio programme I follow on Twitter at work. And every time they pop up in my feed, I see Evil Willow. Not if I look closely, but if I just look, it's exactly her.

Right? Right? It's not just me, is it?

Happy birthday!

"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by meeting that a new world is born."
~ Anais Nin

One of the many outstanding things about akamine_chan, aside from her excellent writing, her squee, her consideration, her tilting at windmills, her loyalty, and the magnificent elegance of her leap, is her hospitality. A warm and generous friend, she gives without counting cost. We're all damned lucky to have her around.

I hope you have a beautiful birthday, darl, filled with treats. You deserve lots. LOTS. *smishes from across the globe*

Randomosity

Today at work the Communications coordinator (who is hilarious) intervened in a pointless argument between two finance workers with the calming injunction: "Now, now, let's not get into an argument about whose dad died first..."

While typing an my email address today I realised that my RL initials also spell FML. Which, considering Microsoft spent the morning making my life miserable, seemed apt.

On Sunday I found myself awake at 6am for no good reason, so sat up in my bed writing M*A*S*H fic and texting the HLP, who was on night shift at the hospital. My text: "If a patient's eye popped out & needed to be popped back in, what's the doctor word for that? Also, good morning!" What a way to start the day. (The answer, for the curious, was "They'd probably just say pop it back in, but a word you could use is enlocate.")

Wellington peeps: if you wanted to get a wooden chest apx a metre square, and for a reasonable price, where would you go? Bearing in mind that you would have to have it delivered. And that you would be using it to store all your linen and also as a coffee table.
