Belfast Giants announce non-participation in Champions Hockey League for 2026/27 season, HK Nitra replaced them

The Belfast Giants, Elite Ice Hockey League champions for 2025/26, confirmed they will not participate in the Champions Hockey League campaign for the 2026/27 season due to scheduling conflicts including arena availability issues and conflicts with IIHF Worlds.

Slovakian side Nitra will take the wildcard spot instead. The decision leads the Giants to compete in the IIHF Continental Cup

The bid is planned to be submitted in May at the Congress of the IIHF which will take place in Switzerland during the WC
Kyrgyzstan has already hosted IHWC in 2022 (div.4) and in 2024 (division 3A)

According to a post published by Ice Hockey Association of India, the 2026 IIHF Development Cup will be played in Rabat, Morocco from 3 to 10 June 2026. Last August was announced the tournament will be played in Brazil

U18 Women’s World Championship Division III Cancelled

The 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship Division III, originally scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand from 29 January to 4 February 2026, has been cancelled.

The decision was made due to unforeseen circumstances, which made it impossible to stage the tournament as planned. Following a decision by the IIHF Council, the Championship will not be relocated or postponed to a later date.

Drass icehockey tournament 2026

The Indian Army's Fire and Fury Corps has inaugurated the Drass Winter Carnival, 'Jashn-e-Fateh 2026', in Ladakh under Operation Sadbhavana. The event features ice hockey, archery, and cultural performances to engage youth and strengthen community ties during the harsh winter

Its launch coincides with the first seasonal snowfall transforming Drass and Leh into picturesque winter landscape
