The CZ-12 carrier rocket is a Chinese medium-lift launch vehicle being developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology.

It will be able to place at least 10 tons of payload in low Earth orbit and at least 6 tons in 700 km Sun-synchronous orbit. Its initial launch took place in November 2024 from Hainan.

The CZ-12 rocket is designed in two stages with a diameter of 3.8 m: the first stage is driven by four YF-100K 1250 KN engines that use RP-1 and liquid oxygen, and the second stage is powered by two YF-115 180 kN engines that also use RP-1/LOX. The rocket has two payload fairing options, one with a diameter of 5.2 meters and the other with a diameter of 4.2 m.

The CZ-12A rocket is designed in two stages with a diameter of 3.8 m: the first stage is driven by seven Longyun-70 engines engines that use Methane and liquid oxygen. It is fitted with four deployable landing legs for a powered landing. The second stage is powered by YF-209V engines that also use Methane and liquid oxygen. The first stage is designed to be reusable by powered landing.

The CZ-12B is a vehicle with a wider body of 4.37 m diameter. Its first stage is driven by nine YF-102R engines that use RP-1 and liquid oxygen, and the second stage is powered by an YF-102RV engine that also use RP-1/LOX. The first stage is designed to be reusable by powered landing.
