MESOS [Kip Daugirdas]
MESOS is a small two stage sounding rocket privately developed by amateur rocketeer Kip Daugirdas.
The MESOS rocket was developed and built entirely by Kip Daugirdas over three years. The rocket carried two GoPro 9 cameras modified with rectilinear lenses (one shooting 4K/60fps video and the other photos). Both stages are recoverable by parachute.
On the first flight from Black Rock Desert, Nevada, it successfully reached an altitude of 89.5 km.
A second launch in May 2023 from FAR Site, Mojave, California only reached an altitude of 28.6 km due to excessive coning.
The third launch in October 2023, again from FAR Site, reached an altitude 89.5 km and ended with a successful recovery.
