CSICE Quick Response Satellite [CSICE]

CSICE Quick Response Satellite (Note: actual name not yet known) is a small experimental earth-observing satellite.

It is a "quick response" prototype satellite for Japan's Cabinet Satellite Intelligence Center (CSICE), which also manages the country's IGS (information-gathering satellites) surveillance satellites. CSICE collects and analyzes imagery and other data to support national security and crisis management efforts.

In case of an unforeseen issue on an information-gathering satellite, these small satellites can be launched swiftly to replace the information-gathering satellite for a certain period of time.

Details about this payload are restricted, however it is expected to weigh around 100 kilos and have an optical resolution of less than 1 meter.

The satellite was launched on the maiden flight of the KAIROS launch vehicle, but failed to reach orbit.
