Energiya 100

The Energiya 100 is a Russian high throughput communications satellite built for Rostelecom.

Energiya 100 is based on RKK Energiya's USP Bus of Yamal-heritage. The satellite is designed for direct insertion into the geostationary orbit by the launch vehicle upper stage and therefore does not feature an apogee engine. The modern high throughput Ka band offers 100 Gbit/s of bandwidth, which it is equivalen to 1,500 transponders of low bandwidth band.

The satellite was contracted for a joint launch with the AngoSat 1 satellite on the Zenit-3SL (2) in 2016. Due to the Ukraine crisis, the availability of the Zenit launch vehicle had become questionable. Later the satellite was planned to be launched on a Soyuz-2-1b Fregat in 2018 launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome.
