
PROITERES [OIT]
A team of students and faculty members of Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT) are now developing a small satellite called MicroSat with an electric propulsion rocket engine, which is installed with radio equipment. The project called PROITERES (PRoject of OIT Electric-Rocket-Engine Onboard Small Space Ship) aims to demonstrate powered-flight technology for an ultra-small satellite and to monitor the Kansai District with a high-resolution camera. PROITERES also aims to reduce development costs and shorten the development period drastically by miniaturizing the satellite and its component parts.
The main mission of the PROITERES 2 satellite is to achieve a longer powered flight than that of the 1st PROITERES satellite by the PPT. The New PPT system, Multi-Discharge-Room PPT (MDR-PPT) for longrange powered flight and long-time operation, was innovated. This project is divided into a propulsion system, a structural system, a C&DH (Command and Data Handling) system, a communication system, an attitude control system, a power system and an outfitting system developing.
The launch of the PROITERES 2 satellite was planned for October 2018. It was to board as a piggyback payload with GOSAT-2 and KhalifaSat on an H-2A-202 rocket, but was removed shortly before launch.
