Tpac Katari 1
Bolivia signed in December 2010 a contract with China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) for the on orbit delivery of the Tpac Katari 1 (TKSat 1) communications satellite. The spacecraft, named after a national hero, Tpac Katari, will be the first communications satellite of Bolivia. It will not only provide communications and broadcasting services to the whole territory of Bolivia and the surrounding areas, but also facilitate the development of civil projects like remote education and telemedicine.
The DFH-4 based satellite has a service life of 15 years and was launched on a CZ-3B/G2 booster.
With 26 Ku-band, 2 C-band and 2 Ka-band transponders on board, the designed in-orbit life of Tupak Katari satellite is 15 years. China Satellite Launch & Tracking Control General (CLTC) is responsible for the ground segment. The satellite is estimated to be delivered in orbit 33 months after the effective date of the contract.
