A storm raged outside, but the occupants of Elliot’s apartment were thoroughly enjoying it. They sat in the living room, George in Elliot’s lap, watching the flashes of lightning while Elliot massaged George’s shoulders. They watched the flashes intently, appreciative of the destructive beauty of the lightning.

George let out a contented sigh. “This is perfect.”

“It is.” Elliot agreed with a nod.

“Do you-” Another clap of thunder sounded, cutting George off.

“What were you going to say?” Elliot asked.

“Nothing.” George said with a smile. They sat for a while, the silence broken only by rain and thunder.
