Small, light, bright: a great normal prime

A large-aperture 50 mm prime lens is a must-have for serious full-frame camera users, and this is an excellent, affordable choice. The optical design is state-of-the-art for high image quality, and the large F1.8 maximum aperture can produce gorgeous background bokeh. On APS-C format E-mount bodies it provides equally high quality with an equivalent focal length of about 75 mm.

Amazing lens for portrait ! I’ve ordered through Amazon Warehouse Deals, as I found it cheaper and wanted to try portrait photography with my Sony A5100. After many months with it, all I can say is that I should definitely have bought this one (even at regular price). Pictures are crisp, sharp with a superb bokeh. I’m using it all the time and the results are always amazing in almost every lighting condition. Worth every penny IMHO.

Excellent portrait lens for the Sony A7 III

I use this lens on my Sony A7 III, and it’s been a great addition to my camera bag. I was previously using a larger lens for portraits, which meant I had to stand much farther away from my subjects. The 50mm focal length feels much more natural and lets me shoot at a comfortable distance. The images are sharp, the background blur is beautiful, and it performs especially well for portraits. It’s also lightweight, making it easy to carry for longer sessions. If you own an A7 III and are looking for an affordable portrait lens, I highly recommend this one.

Everyone needs a 50 mm lens in their kit . At a 1.8 aperture and a low cost, This is a win-win. This is a great portrait lens. Keep in mind this is a prime lens. You will have to walk back and forth to get the shot that you need because there is no zoom. This fits us New Sony E mount so be aware if you have the older A mount

This lens is the standard for quality, affordability and your intro to professional lenses. It is a well rounded lens that gets a lot of the job done with out needing to change lenses. The color is stunning and at 1.8 you get incredible sharpness and clarity for the picture.

The body is a little “too plastic” for what I would expect from Sony but it is their intro to FE and professional lenses. But the value to quality ratio is much higher than anticipated. I use the Sony A7iv and definitely see this lens being my work horse
