    Great travel tripod!
    5 out of 5 stars
    Great travel tripod!
I got this tripod to augment my travel and city centre portrait shoots. My Manfrotto is more sturdy but also much heavier. At full extension, the Neewer stands nearly 6” taller than the Manfrotto! As you can see from the images, I was able to do 30-second exposure shots with no problems at all. Being carbon fibre, it is also warmer to the touch than my aluminium Manfrotto. It is really flexible in the number of configurations it can be used in which again trumps my Manfrotto. The quick release plate isn’t as solid as my Manfrotto, but it still held my Canon 5diii and the 85mm lens with no major issues. Really useful and well made product!

This carbon fibre, full height, tripod is quite a bargain. It’s not inexpensive but is about half the price of near alternatives and comes with a decent ball head and carry case.

I’ve had various bits of Neewer kit and always found it practical and good quality - this tripod carries on the tradition.

I searched for quite some time before deciding on the Neewer but I’m glad I made the decision I did. Brand snobs need not apply but if you want a solid, lightweight tripod with no frills this is your boy.

You could reduce the weight even further by changing the head for a smaller, lighter one - depending on your use case.

In my opinion, it’s best suited to general landscape type photography. A heavy camera and lens combo might be too much but any “normal” camera with up to maybe a 300mm should be absolutely fine.

I use tripods every day for my work so I am a little fussy. I own various Manfrotto’s and a crazy expensive Gitzo (that I got cheap) but for the ultra light kit I bought this tripod for, it’s absolutely fantastic without breaking the bank.

I have no idea of its durability over time but it seems solid to me.

If you’re thinking it’s still a bit pricey and considering a cheaper aluminium option - don’t if you can avoid it. Carbon fibre is lighter, absorbs vibrations much better and is nicer to work with in the cold.

Good luck finding a better tripod for the price!

I got this tripod because it was light, seemed tough, tall (so am I) and a good price, plus my previous tripod had fallen apart. Everything worked well to begin with but then I noticed that the glue on some of the knurled rubber grips around the locks on the legs had failed which made it difficult tightening up the joints, within a year all of them had failed and whilst on a trip to the Scottish highlands this past weekend, just under 12 months from the initial purchase the adhesive holding one of the legs into the top of the tripod completely failed rendering it completely useless, thankfully this was right at the end of the trip and no camera was attached when I noticed. I think the moral to this story is buy cheap buy twice (no more amazon tripods for me)

Rock-Solid Tripod That Punches Above Its Price
Reviewed in Canada on 5 November 2025

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

I’ve used a lot of tripods over the years for both photography and guitar video content, and this one immediately impressed me with its stability and build quality. The carbon-fiber legs feel incredibly sturdy yet lightweight, making it easy to carry around the studio or on location. Once everything is locked in, there’s zero wobble, even when I’m mounting heavier gear like my Sony ZV-E10 with a wide lens and field monitor attached. I would have liked to have seen a handle for tilting just because when I'm sitting or using a guitar I have to set it down or rely on a strap to rejig the tilt. Not a major issue by any means though.

The telescopic two-section center column is smooth and secure, I haven't seen any slipping or creep over time. The twist locks feel premium and hold firm, and the ball head movement is fluid enough for panning shots without any jerky motion.

It’s also clear that NEEWER put thought into the small things: rubberized grips on the feet so it doesn't slip on my hardwood floors, precise level markings, and an overall finish that feels professional.

It easily competes with tripods that cost twice as much. Highly recommended for anyone shooting videos, time-lapses, or detailed content where stability matters. This is a great choice, I'll likely buy a second when I look at more multi angle shooting.

Rock-Solid Tripod That Punches Above Its Price
