Excellent product! Very strong stuff so wear a good mask. Use 00000 steel wool, it won't scratch, and a clean kint free t-shirt or towel. Soak the steelWool press out excess and immediately wipe off. You want the wool verycwet but not to where its running. Depending on how thick the coating is you may need to do several scrubbs. Tape off anything you don't want solvent to drip on. Also bought the minwax poly, don't buy it it sucks! Dries in literally 3 seconds. I tried, and messed it all up, had to restrip the top again. I'm 86 the minwax and instead using Tung oil as the finish. Minwax is horrible!

    After doing some research for finish removers, I decided to give this a try, and I was pretty pleased with the results. It did take lots of elbow grease, but I was using it for a pretty large job. It did OK for the job, but it would really excel at small projects. My project was stained and finished (I'm guessing with lacquer, but I can't be sure), and this product immediately softened the finish so I could scrub it off with steel wool. It did remove a fair amount of the stain as well, but not all of it.

    I have tried a lot of varnish strippers for antique furniture and this one is what I keep coming back to. No residue. No damage. Just use it with fine grit steel wool and wipe off with paper towels.

    I got a can of Formby refinishing stuff at a garage sale and loved it so much. It worked amazing but I later learned Formby had gone out of business. Minwax bought them or something. This product is very close to the Formby refinishing stuff and even smells exactly like Formby. It's worth getting and easily removes old lacquer.

    This stuff was a great approach to refinishing an old pine desk. The wipe-on-off method saved any sanding, which would've scarred this ancient soft wood.
