How to use a SCIAN sphygmomanometer by yourself

  • Step 1: Relax yourself and adjust to a proper position

- Keep arm being measured at heart level, it's very important that the person is being taken is relaxed and stiing comfortably

  • Step 2: Place the cuff 2-3cm above the bend of the elbow on the naked left upper arm

- For cuff with metal D-shaped ring, pull the free end of the cuff through the D-ring and close the cuff by means of the velcro closure

  • Step 3: Inflating the cuff, close the air valve on the bulb by turning th screw clockwise, DO NOT over-tighten
  • Step 4: Systolic blood pressure reading upper value
  • Step 5: Diastolic blood pressure reading lower value
  • Step 6: Record your readings

Great BP cuff for manual readings - stethoscope still needed
Wanted a manual blood pressure cuff for my emergency kit. This one from Scian seems to be a good fit. Cuff has a good adjustment range. Pumps up well, release valve is simple. Easy to use with one hand. Good to have one on hand in case of no batteries or power. Comes with a little carry bag, to keep it clean, together. You do need to get a stethoscope, not included.
