Dreams are the best story fodder
My brain decided to throw a dream at me framed like a coming-of-age romcom about a young multiple girl going cross country to see her mother. As dreams often do it was vague on the details of where anything is (also it was turning autumn and full of wonderful landscapes of gold turned grass and trees and gradients from gold to red, thank you dream for such pretty landscapes.) Brain wanted to say 'something like France' but the location I think is inconsequential.
Over the course of trying to make it to her mother's place by foot, which she keeps somehow getting lost despite having a phone, she runs into two different boys that her two separate system members fall for individually. (One was like, punk goth the other was like indie prep.) She has two different styles of hair to signify which system member is fronting, which.. one was blonde and one was brunette (also she had intensely curly hair) like don't ask me how that would happen IRL maybe an Under Dye. There's of course all that weird dream filler like, going into people's houses for no reason, walking through like it's no big deal, text conversations that make no sense, and the whole problem with 'how do you loose where you're going with a smart phone' but I guess that could be explained by old rural roads and the fact that they can be mapped incorrectly.
But all of this getting turned around and avoiding the two boys she keeps running into for fear of not being the right one fronting at the time, and the fear of 'lying' to either of them leads up to this great scene where she's going back and forth out of a building through a revolving door trying to talk to the two of them separately while front switching and each one is seeing a different side of her face, signaling to the viewer who's talking because one half her hair is down and the other half of the hair is pulled back and I just kept thinking what a masterpiece of visual language for film that would be to pull off. It was very sweet tho because neither boy was accusatory they were just really concerned about her well being.
I woke up about that time so I never saw it to it's resolution but I thought about it a lot because I thought about how cute it would be. Personally I would opt for the ending being the girl system and the two boys start a little poly relationship. Sundance Films here I Come.
