American lunar rover. Study 1966. Robotic vehicle delivered to the lunar surface with a LM-Shelter or a LM-Truck-Shelter and used during and after the manned mission to explore areas prior to committing a man.

The MOBEV R0DE was based upon a vehicle being delivered to the lunar surface with a LM-Shelter or a LM-Truck-Shelter and used during and after the manned mission to explore areas prior to committing a man, and to extend the data obtained during the manned mission to a much larger area.

The vehicle would have a total range capability of about 800 km, which could be used in a detailed, intensive, survey pattern or on a linear traverse across a boundary area. The vehicle would have a mission duration of 90 days with vehicle usage of about 9 hr/day and a minimum of 50 kg payload capability.
