Oh. My. God.
I just finished East of Eden.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ENDING? OH MY GOD I was literally yelling at my screen. Then threw my kleenex at it. But it was no use. The drama had to go there.
Seriously, show? SERIOUSLY? 56 episodes of angst was not enough!? Just had to throw like, the worst ending ever into the mix?
UGH CRIES BUCKETS OF TEARS.
I understand that they were trying to keep with the whole theme of the show, what with the older brother dying to ~*SAVE HIS FAMILY*~ but OMFG the younger brother should have taken the bullet for being such a shithead for like, the last x many episodes. Actually, he should have taken the bullet for being a shithead the entire drama. Because he was. And I mean, after all, even though Shin Taehwan was the root of all evil, he got his. BUT NO. SHITHEAD LITTLE BROTHER THAT IS NOT ACTUALLY THE REAL LITTLE BROTHER GETS OFF SCOT-FREE. The hot brother who is all noble and JUST got a break for once in his life has to go and die. Omfg. Omfg. WHY, DRAMA WRITERS, WHY? YOU SUCK.
ALSO, THE LAST EPISODE IN GENERAL. I was giggling in glee once Shin Taehwan finally got his ultimate end. I mean, it was perfect. Murder-suicide, by the batshit crazy Rebecca. But the way they conducted it? Like when the car was flying through the air, and you could see through the windshield at their faces? Omg, cracked me up. But whatever, I was glad that the crazies were finally getting what they deserved. But then. THE ENDING HAD TO GO AND BE SHITTY, then get even SHITTIER with cheesy special effects at the end, with Dongchul showing up all ~*heavenly*~ like and looking down on his family. EW. EW. WHY. If you can't make it look good, LEAVE IT OUT. Don't make it look like some cheesy soap opera!
...oh wait, it is. Nevermind.
BUT I DIGRESS. And then the show writers expect to make it all better, because HEY, the soulmates Youngran and Dongchul had a kid! Conceived two days before he died! WHAT A MIRACLE.
NO. IT'S NOT. IT DID NOT MAKE THAT ENDING ANY BETTER. There is nothing WORSE than a kdrama ending where one or both of the main characters dies, and then they try to make it better by showing an ~*afterlife*~ sequence (a la Sangdoo! Let's Go to School) or a sequence where the other is ~*looking down on them*~. And there is ALWAYS a baby involved. SORRY. BABIES DO NOT MAKE IT BETTER, DRAMA WRITERS. BABIES ARE A COP-OUT. It's like giving someone fine Swiss chocolate, then taking it away and giving them Hershey's kisses (blech). Or giving somebody fine wine, then taking it away and giving them $3 champagne instead (EVEN WORSE). And being like "LOL IT'S OK IT'S A GOOD SUBSTITUTE RIGHT? IT ALL WORKED OUT. THERE ARE EVEN BABIES. THE CHARACTER LIVES ON~~~"
NO. NO, SORRY. CHEAP CHAMPAGNE + SHITTY CHOCOLATE =/= GOOD. MAIN CHARACTER DYING AFTER AN ANGST FILLED 56 EPISODES + MIRACLE BABY =/= GOOD ENDING.
This is why I do not watch melodramas. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I should have just dropped this drama when it got boring and left the ending a mystery forever. Or I should have listened to the other people raging about how they wasted 56 hours of their life on this drama and never started it. But I thought "OH NO, THE EYECANDY IS WORTH IT~"
...Which I guess it sort of was, but still. Even the eyecandy can't make up for that ending. T^T
Song Seung Heon. You need to do more romantic comedies, because I don't like this melodrama business.
