My Fandom Flavor Profile
Fannish History
I've been participating in fannish behaviors for, quite literally, as long as I can remember, before I even knew there was a word for what I was doing. I suspect that this is largely thanks to my autism spectrum disorder, which has always had a tendency to fixate on fiction. The first fandom I was particularly avid in my fannish behaviors for was Pokemon, which is now my current OTF (one true fandom). When I began to use the internet at a young age, it was mostly to watch Pokemon fanvids. I first wrote fanfiction for Pokemon, as well, but I became a reader of it too with my entrance into the Legend of Zelda fandom.
Back then, I was disallowed from actually having any accounts online. So the first fandom I was able to actively participate in was Steven Universe around 2013 – a show which I still hold very close to my heart, even if I am not as active in the fandom anymore. I initially joined Tumblr in order to take part in fannish discussion as it aired, primarily due to Peridot's currently-ongoing character arc. (This Tumblr account was deleted by my mother years ago.)
As-of today, generally speaking, I have a tendency to mostly gravitate towards video game fandoms. I primarily focus on M/M and gen relationships (though I do have a hefty handful of F/F and nonbinary ships too), and my fanworks are prone to themes of queerness, disability and mental health. I mostly engage with fandom via fanart and fanfiction, but I do other things, as well, such as:
- Contributing to fanzines
- Joining exchanges
- Organizing both of the above
- Beta-reading fics
- Building digital shrines on my site
- Collating screenshots
- Creating animatics
- Curating fic recs
- Curating playlists
- Donating buttons to fanlistings
- Editing images (icons, headers, moodboards, gifsets and other graphics)
- Editing videos (fanvids / AMVs)
- Editing wikis
- Making fandom-inspired kandi bracelets
- Making PowerPoints to indoctrinate my friends
- Writing meta
Flavor Profile
Stories:
I am a shameless wearer of favorite-character-goggles. While I do have favorite types of stories (character-driven), and stories that I try to avoid (ones originating from gacha games), I will ultimately get into just about any genre, setting or format if a character catches my fancy strong enough. I still find myself being drawn to video games, as well as other forms of interactive storytelling, the most, though.

LandminesLandmine is a term used by Japanese fans to describe squicks or NOTPs. These can include sensitive topics that are covered by trigger warnings in English-speaking fandom ... Users may list their landmines in their bio or a Carrd-like site such as twpf, and if they have especially strong preferences, they may block other users to avoid discomfort. Fanlore:
- Acting like which character tops and bottoms effects the whole relationship or is determined by personality – similarly, pretending that switches don't exist
- Fujoshi culture
- Genderbend
- Incestuous and pedophilic ships
