Postpartum isn’t a linear experience, and can take up to years to recover from, while a women is left to pick up the pieces and figure out who she is. My biggest irk after becoming a mother was hearing men who chose to leave their partner while they were in the postpartum trenches and their excuse was “we just weren’t compatible anymore, she’s different now.”
Well yeah, no shit. She birthed a whole baby. You’d be different too.
Let me simplify it for those who still might not understand though: she is forever changed. She’s not compatible even with herself right now, hence why nothing fits and she doesn’t know who she is.
My husband is by no means a perfect man, but he is a man that is willing to try for me and for that—I will be forever grateful.
