Charlie bit his lip and looked at Hermione again. Quin was down for his nap, and Sirius had gone, and then, they'd talked.

He'd explained about the potion. About acquiring more though non-Mungo's sources. About taking too much. About needing it, not because he hurt but because he needed it. ABout how obviously he was hurting everyone and he was an idiot and somehow he'd let this happen again.

He'd expected her to take Quin and leave him. It would have served him right and he knew it. And he was already starting to feel the want again. "I need to go get rid of it now, before I can't do it," he said quietly. He turned to go up the stairs, then turned back. "Maybe, um. Maybe you should come with me."

They checked on Quin, who was happily sucking an imaginary bottle in his sleep, and went upstairs. Charlie took the vials in the bath, silently, and dumped one after another in the toilet, flushing the stuff down and handing her the vials. "I don't think I can do a reasonable scourgifying charm," he said. "You'd better."

He waited until she had, then shook his head. "And I already want to find more. Somewhere. I don't know if I can do this." He sat down on the edge ofthe tub and put his head in his hands. "And I'm pretty sure I'm going to feel worse before I feel better."

He remembered that Draco had told him before that one couldn't just stop taking it, but considering weaning himself had only led to another week of taking too much, and he coudln't see another end. "The IDW can't find out," he said. "They. This is. Damn."

They went back downstairs where he lay on the couch with her curled up against him, not really watching the telly, until he started to feel his body shake and his head hurt, and then he took a deep breath. "I think I'd better go up and lie down," he said.

He hated that he'd worried her even more, and didn't know if he could do this.
