Another case wrapped up, Lori thought, her knee dug into the suspect's lower back. Next to her, Steve and Danny had the ringleader in handcuffs and were shoving him into the back of a squad car. She had to admit, despite her initial misgivings, this task force was good at what they did.

"Shit," Danny suddenly said, glancing at his watch. "This took longer than I thought it would. We've got to get to the airport."

"Her flight's not due to land until 1:47," Steve assured him. "We have plenty of time."

"Who's coming in?" Lori asked eagerly. "A foreign dignitary?"

"Something like that," Danny said with a grin, before turning back to Steve. "C'mon babe, HPD's got it from here. Let's take a move on."

"We're taking the rest of the day off," Steve told her, climbing into the car. "We'll see you at headquarters tomorrow."

Lori waited until they were far enough away, then got into her car and began to follow them. She'd heard about the kind of people 5-0 got picked to protect, and there was no way she was missing out on this.

Perched on a Starbucks' stool, Lori carefully kept her eyes on Steve and Danny, who were hovering at an arrival gate. They had flashed their badges to get to the front of the crowd by the door.

As the passengers began to stream out, Lori studied each face, trying to discern which personage Steve and Danny were there to meet. The broad-shouldered man in the perfectly tailored suit? The woman with the humongous Gucci handbag?

And then a little girl in a polka dot dress came flying through the crowd, her pigtails flying. "Danno! Step Steve!" she yelled, and flung herself into Danny's waiting, open arms. She clung to him as he held her tight against his chest, pressing kisses to the top of her head.

"I missed you so much, Monkey," he murmured, pulling back slightly to look at her smiling face, before hugging her again.

"I missed you too, Danno!" she exclaimed, kissing his cheek, then squirming slightly. Danny immediately understood, and handed her over to Steve.

Lori, unable to look away, watched as the man she thought of as the stoic SEAL wrapped his arms around the little girl, face beaming and open and so loving as he listened to the little girl chatter away, her face resting against the crook of his neck.

"You can come out now," Danny called out good-naturedly, beckoning with a finger. "Come meet the most important person to ever set foot on Hawaii's fine soil, our girl, Gracie."

"Nice to meet you," Grace said politely, face now half-buried in Steve's broad shoulder. "I'm Grace McGarrett Williams."

"As per your request, but not officially until after the wedding, Monkey," Danny said fondly, and Lori could swear she saw tears well up in Steve's eyes.

"But...you...I asked if you were married?" Lori stammered.

"We aren't," Danny said matter-of-factly. "Not yet. We're just waiting until civil unions are officially legal in Hawaii, especially now that DADT has been repealed. Not like I'm letting Steve anywhere near active duty ever again. My man can't even be trusted around a simple blender, probably turn it into a grenade."

"Hey!" Steve protested lightly, while Grace nodded solemnly.

"I have to help Danno make all the smoothies," she said. "I sneak pineapple into Step Steve's for him."

"That's my girl," Steve said, so fondly, and then Danny looked at Grace with such love, Lori wanted to fly home right then and hug her father. Her gaze fell on the men's bare fingers.

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a quality man's engagement ring?" Danny said, answering the unspoken question. "And somehow I didn't have one on me when I asked hm as we escaped from a collapsing building."

"Such a romantic," Steve grinned. Grace suddenly clamored down from his arms, and tugged on Danny's sleeve, who immediately bent down so she could whisper in his ear. She pulled something from her pocket and placed it carefully in his palm.

"I made it in art class," Grace said proudly, as Danny extended his hand, letting Steve see the braided ring Grace had handed him.

Lori slipped away, as Danny gingerly dropped down on one knee. She wanted to give them their privacy, but couldn't help turning around again, to see the ring slipped on Steve's finger, Danny helped to his feet and kissed soundly, a grinning Grace swept up into the two men's embrace.

Grinning herself, Lori walked back to her car. So this office was more open than she'd thought. Perfect. She turned on her car and pointed it towards Kono's house.
