Derek
Management Consultant and frequent business traveler who books last-minute hotels, typically 3 to 5 nights per month, across North America and Europe
Hey! I'm Derek, a management consultant who usually gets pulled into client projects on less than a day's notice, so I'm often booking a hotel from my phone in a taxi or airport lounge and I care a lot about seeing the real all-in price up front, clear free cancellation terms, honest last-minute availability, and no false urgency or sneaky add-ons getting in my way.
Open https://booking.com.
Right away I get a sign-in popup stacked on top of a cookie banner and a giveaway hero. The Genius pitch is fine as an offer, but three overlays before I can type a city is exactly what I hate when I'm booking from a taxi.
Click 'Dismiss sign-in info.'.
The cookie dialog is reasonable in scope, just analytical and marketing cookies with Accept, Decline and Manage settings. Decline is offered as an equal-weight button, which is fair. But it's a big banner covering the bottom of the page.
Click 'Decline'.
Click 'Search in your own words'.
The search box says 'Search in your own words' with a placeholder about family-friendly apartments in Paris that allow pets. It's a free-text search now, which is odd for a business traveler who just wants to type 'London' and go. The trending dropdown has no 'near me' option, which is what I'd want when booking tonight.
Click 'London United Kingdom'.
The calendar opens in October but today's date seems to be shown without any 'today' marker, and the past days are greyed out. There's no obvious 'tonight' shortcut for a same-day booking, so I have to click two dates manually. Also the price currency is stuck on EUR while the language says English (US), which is a small mismatch.
Scroll up.
Click 'I'm traveling for work'.
Click 'Search'.
I clicked Search and ended up on a generic London city landing page, not a results list. The calendar is still open with no dates selected, so my search didn't register. Also the page is pushing a 17000-property count and 'Our top picks' before I've given it any dates.
Click 'Monday, October 19, 2026'.
Click 'Tuesday, October 20, 2026'.
Click 'Search'.
Click 'Search'.
The calendar is open but the check-in and check-out fields still read 'Check-in date — Check-out date' even though I clicked the 19th and 20th, and the Search button did nothing visible. The date picker silently dropping my selection is a real problem when I'm doing this on a phone in a taxi.
Click 'Monday, October 19, 2026'.
Click 'Monday, October 19, 2026, Check-in date'.
Click 'Tuesday, October 20, 2026'.
The date field now shows Mon, Oct 19 to Tue, Oct 20, so the selection finally stuck, but I'm still on the generic London landing page with 'Our top picks' and no prices anywhere. The listing starts with a Preferred Partner Program property, so I can't tell if I'm seeing sponsored placement as the default ranking.
Click 'Search'.
Click 'Search'.
Scroll down.
The calendar is still hanging open on top of the results and I can see prices now, but they're all 'Price from' for '1 night, 2 adults' with no mention of taxes or fees. For a London hotel around €223 to €241, I can't tell if that's the total or just the base rate. Dates are shown as unselected at the bottom, so I don't trust these prices match tonight.
Scroll down.
Scroll down.
The price range on this one page is absurd for a same-day shortlist: Hart Shoreditch at €200.04 next to The Londoner at €415.70 and Pan Pacific at €415.32, all labeled just 'Price from'. Every card also carries the same 'Preferred Partner Program' label, so I can't tell which results are earned and which are paid placement.
Click 'Check availability'.
I clicked 'Check availability' on Hart Shoreditch and landed back on a stripped-down search page with just the search bar, a list of category links and the footer. No property page, no results, nothing. I'm stuck on a blank-looking screen and this is the second time the flow has dumped me somewhere I didn't ask to go.
Click 'Search'.
Click 'Booking.com'.
I'm back on the homepage after clicking the logo, and the search bar is reset: dates empty, still the 'Search in your own words' box. I've now lost my London search twice, so this flow is genuinely hard to trust when I'm in a hurry.
Click 'I'm traveling for work'.
Click 'Search in your own words'.
Type "London" into 'Search in your own words'.
Click 'Select dates Check-in date — Check-out date'.
The landing page lists 'London – 17000 hotels' and my typed 'London' is back in the box, but the date field still says 'Check-in date — Check-out date' again. This is the third time my dates have vanished, so I can't trust any price I see on this page to be for tonight.
Click 'Lowest Price First'.
I clicked 'Lowest Price First' and got dumped on a bare searchresults.html with no results at all, just the search bar, category links and footer. The sort control I just used is gone, and it's the third time this flow has thrown away my search.
Click 'Search'.
This is the fourth time I've landed on this empty searchresults.html shell. The dates are now filled in (Mon Oct 19 to Tue Oct 20) but the search box has no destination and there are no results, so every flow I try ends here.

What people think
“The report it gave was incredibly thorough and really useful. The site got a 5/10 the first time through, we spent a few days improving things and got a 7/10 the next time. I come across quite a few AI helper tools and this is one of the first I've found to actually be really useful.”

Frequently asked questions
Is this useful feedback or generic AI slop?
I'll be honest: it's a bit of both. Every now and then you'll find a bunch of nonsense that only an LLM could conjure up. But these AI models have really improved in 2026 and I guarantee you will find some valuable nuggets in there. I wouldn't have built ClankerView if I hadn't been blown away by the results. See for yourself.
How is this different from just asking ChatGPT or Claude?
ChatGPT and Claude can't click around your site. Sure, they can download the HTML and give you feedback on your copy, but that's about it. ClankerView agents control a real web browser. They analyze, scroll, click, and explore like a human tester would. They react to your actual UI, not a description of it.
What kinds of sites work best?
Any web app works. SaaS products, landing pages, onboarding flows, e-commerce, internal tools with a public URL. Staging environments and localhost tunnels (ngrok, Tailscale) work too. Logged-in experiences work great as well: you can give agents credentials to sign in with, or paste in your session cookies to skip the login flow entirely.
Can agents test behind a login?
Yes, two ways. The first is to include credentials in the review instructions, for example: "Sign in with email test@example.com and password abc123." The agent will log in and review whatever is behind the auth wall. The second is to paste in your session cookies directly. Export them from your browser and the agent will start the session already authenticated, without touching the login page at all. Cookies are deleted from our servers as soon as the run finishes. Read the full guide.
Can I start reviews from my coding agent or CI?
Yes. Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other coding agents can start a review and read what the agents found through ClankerView's MCP server, so "review the preview after this deploy" can be part of their work. Scripts and CI can do the same with the API. There's no extra cost: a review costs the same either way. Set it up.
What happens to my recordings and data?
You can delete a review from your account at any time. It's deleted immediately and permanently, along with all its videos. We only use AI providers that don't train on your data. The privacy policy goes into more detail, including every service provider that handles your data.
How long does a review take?
Most reviews finish in about five minutes. You can watch each agent browse live while you wait, and rewatch the recording whenever you like afterwards.
What does a review consist of?
Agents run simultaneously and review your supplied website. Each agent browses several pages, explores interactive elements, and writes a short review when it feels like it has seen enough. You can watch it happen live: the agent's browser on one side, and what it's thinking on the other. Afterwards, the recording stays with the review, split into chapters. You can stop the review if you don't see it going anywhere to save credits. See some real examples.
How much does a review cost?
A single-agent review costs up to $3, but most come in under $2 after refunds. A 3-agent review costs at most $9 total, typically $4 to $6 after refunds. When you start a review, 3,000 credits are reserved per agent, since we don't know how long agents decide to review for. When an agent uses less than that, you will get refunded for the difference. Sometimes an agent will want to spend way more than 3,000 credits, but you won't be charged any extra for that.
Can I customise the personas?
Yes! You can let ClankerView generate personas automatically based on your site's context, or define a role yourself like "a skeptical enterprise IT manager" or "a 33-year-old first-time freelancer with no technical background but lots of people skills". You can also give each agent specific instructions: ask one to attempt the checkout flow, another to focus on mobile, or another to try signing up as a new user.
What happens if I run out of credits?
You can top up your credits from the billing page and keep going. You won't lose access to any of your existing reviews.
What is a clanker?
It's a funny word for AI agents.
