Greetings
Hello, I just joined and figured I should introduce myself.
My name is Cipee and I'm a web editor for a science/engineering university in upstate new york. My job is both to design/run the web site for the School of Science, and to write up interesting stories about what students and professors are doing within the school.
I love my job because it allows me to have a very cool overview on lots of varied research. I love talking to the professors and students about what moves them about their work. It's damn poetic at times. :D I honestly don't understand how people can think that the sciences aren't creative. They are probably the most creative thing going on in the world, imo.
I myself come from a liberal arts/journalism/media background. Back in the day i chose to go this route because I wanted to ensure creativity in my job. Sometimes I wish I could go back and change my mind, but, I still love communications with a passion, and my current job lets me witness all the creativity of science without having to deal with much of the mudane stuff (that exists in almost every career, actually).
Anyway, that's me. Nice to be here.
