Don't Starve Together Guide
What is Don't Starve Together?
Don't Starve Together is a multiplayer survival game developed by Klei Entertainment. It is set in a dark, wild world filled with strange creatures and environmental hazards. Players must work together to gather resources, craft tools, build shelters, and survive as long as possible. There are persistent game mechanics highlighting the survival aspect that include food consumption, seasonal changes, sanity management, and more - all of which add complexity to staying alive. Players choose from a variety of unique characters, each with their own abilities and drawbacks, encouraging teamwork and strategy in both PvE and player-hosted game modes. The game features all four seasons and includes multiple biomes. The world is randomly generated to provide an ever-changing experience for players.
There are several playable characters available to choose from in-game. Some must be unlocked or are obtained through DLC. They each have their own set of unique perks.
- Maxwell: Summons shadow puppets to do tasks, has high sanity, and reads magic books; very low health and vulnerable in combat.
- Wanda: Manipulates time instead of health, ages instead of taking damage, and uses clock-based weapons and time magic; fragile but versatile.
- Warly: A dedicated chef who cooks exclusive dishes with his portable crock pot; gets penalties for eating the same food repeatedly and can't eat raw ingredients.
- Webber: A spider-human hybrid who can befriend spiders and build spider dens; eats monster meat safely but has lower maximum sanity and is disliked by pigs.
- Wendy: Summons her ghost sister Abigail to fight enemies; deals reduced damage herself but gains sanity from death and darkness.
- Wes: A silent mime with reduced stats and no speech; intended as a hard mode character with very few perks.
- Wickerbottom: A librarian who can craft powerful books that cause magical effects; cannot sleep and is picky about food freshness.
- Willow: Immune to fire damage, gains sanity near flames, and carries a lighter and Bernie the Bear to help in combat; more vulnerable to cold.
- Wilson: The default character who grows a beard that provides insulation and can be shaved for Beard Hair; no major drawbacks or advantages.
- Winona: A handywoman who builds generators and helpful gadgets faster and cheaper; has a slight hunger penalty when crafting quickly.
- Wigfrid: A battle-hardened actress who only eats meat, deals extra damage, and gains health and sanity from combat.
- Wolfgang: Grows stronger and deals more damage when well-fed, but becomes weaker when hungry; hunger drains faster over time.
- Woodie: A Canadian lumberjack with an unbreakable talking axe named Lucy; can transform into were-creatures during full moons or with idols, at the cost of sanity.
- Wormwood: A plant-like being who can plant seeds instantly and gains sanity from planting; can't heal from food and takes extra fire damage.
- Wurt: A young merm who can build merm houses and befriend merms; vegetarian, disliked by pigs, and has high maximum health and wetness resistance.
- WX-78: A robot that upgrades with gears to increase max stats, is immune to food spoilage, takes damage from rain, and gets overcharged by lightning.
