...The water seemed still. Why should it not? But given time, the two noticed changes. The ripples they had previously attributed to the tradewinds continued even when those winds died down. More than that, the waves crept and jumped violently. But why? They scaled a walkway of boulders down to the water's edge to get a better look and saw before them giant tadpole-shaped fish underneath the surface. Nearly undetectable to the casual observer, they created sizeable, almost unseemly swarms.
The doctor asked Bruno Helden about their biological story, the big picture. Where did they fit into the greater scheme of their subspecies, kingdom, etc? Bruno Helden ignored the question and much more.
One underwater creature revealed him(or her)self to be quite larger than the others, though of a similar shape and color. His skin was the same shiny black, his movements equally as odd and spasmatic. The doctor joked inwardly of such creatures... their odd appearances and the like.
Humans too have odd appearances.
The doctor let his mind struggle with that fact as a stranger approached in foreign dress....
