To steal from a good song......"I dun a bad bad thing.....I dun a bad bad thing......"
I finally broke down and bought a new truck.
I pretty much was at that point with my old truck, it always had rear axle problems and the milage was getting up there on a V-6 with a stick transmission. (132,000) Not to mention it still needed a clutch.
Rhea and I saw this truck last weekend at the Ford store in Morgan Hill when we were out on a motorcycle ride. I discussed it then with them but could not get through the red tape for a number so we left. Rhea suggested I wait a bit as the incentives would only go up over time with it being an 07 model.
I got a call on friday that they had some new incentives and I should come down and look again. I was also going to take my truck in see what they would give me for it. After doing some errands on Saturday I headed down there, I got a different salesman and a different sales manager. It was a warmer reception to say the least. I got down to brass tacks right away. Told them I had "A" plan with Ford through my Dad and that sets the price. Lets just get to the financing.
Well, with the 5500 rebate+500 off for overstock sale+500 rebate for using "A" plan I got 6500 off the top. Then I got 2500 for my truck and I only owed 2000 and change. So I got 400 more plus some off.
Also told them I wanted to go through my credit union. They did all the paperwork there to go through them. I got teir 2 status and 7%. the best I could have got was 6.5% for some rediculous credit score. I was in the mid 700's myself and was better than I thought.
So it all boils down to I will pay a little over 100 bucks more a month than the truck I already had, and my insurance only went up 200 a YEAR! WOOHOO! score!
Power windows, power locks, security system, the stereo has a jack for Ipod + came with 6 months Sriuis sat radio for free. Leather bucket seats with the red stiching. Fog lights, towing package with 7 and 4 pin hook ups. 4 wheel disc brakes, 20 inch aluminum alloy wheels with parellii tires. Two tone dash...this thing is loaded!
Right truck, right time, right price, right rebates; just got lucky.
