Doo-wop
Το Doo-wop (γράφεται επίσης doowop και doo wop) είναι ένα υποείδος της μουσικής rhythm and blues που ξεκίνησε σε αφροαμερικανικές κοινότητες κατά τη δεκαετία του 1940,[1] κυρίως στις μεγάλες πόλεις των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της Νέας Υόρκης, της Φιλαδέλφειας, του Πίτσμπουργκ, του Σικάγο, της Βαλτιμόρης, του Νιούαρκ, του Ντιτρόιτ, της Ουάσινγκτον D.C., και του Λος Άντζελες.[2][3] Χαρακτηρίζεται από φωνητική αρμονία που μεταφέρει μια ελκυστική μελωδική γραμμή σε έναν απλό ρυθμό με μικρή ή καθόλου ενορχήστρωση. Οι στίχοι είναι απλοί, συνήθως για την αγάπη, τραγουδισμένοι από ένα κύριο φωνητικό πάνω από τα φωνητικά του φόντου, και συχνά περιλαμβάνουν, στη γέφυρα, ένα μελοδραματικά εγκάρδιο ρετσιτατίβο που απευθύνεται στον/στην αγαπημένο/η. Το αρμονικό τραγούδι ανόητων συλλαβών (όπως "doo-wop") είναι ένα κοινό χαρακτηριστικό αυτών των τραγουδιών.[4] Κερδίζοντας δημοτικότητα τη δεκαετία του 1950, το doo-wop ήταν εμπορικά βιώσιμο μέχρι τις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 1960 και συνέχισε να επηρεάζει καλλιτέχνες σε άλλα είδη.
