Reza Pishghadam (Persian: رضا پیش‌قدم) is an Iranian professor of language education.[1]. He is affiliated with Ferdowsi University of Mashhad[2] and Gulf College[3] in Oman. He also serves as an honorary professor at Tashkent University of Economics and Pedagogy[4] in Uzbekistan. His research focuses on the interplay of language, psychology, and sociology. He introduced theoretical frameworks such as emotioncy[5] and cultuling[6]

Early life and education

Reza Pishghadam was born in Mashhad in 1977. He received his BA in English Language and Literature from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad[7], Iran, in 2001. He completed both his MA and Ph.D. in English Language Education at Allameh Tabataba'i University[8], Iran, in 2007. He joined Ferdowsi University of Mashhad[9] as a faculty member in 2007[10], where he had previously received a scholarship

Academic career

Reza Pishghadam joined Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in 2007. He was Vice President for Academic Affairs (2018–2022)[11]. Since 2022, he has served as a senior education and research consultant at Gulf College[12], Oman. He was awarded an honorary professorship at Tashkent University of Economics and Pedagogy[13] in Uzbekistan.

Research and publications

Reza Pishghadam initially focused on the socio-psychology of language education and later on the neurology of language learning. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Psycholinguistic Research[14][15], Frontiers in Psychology[16][17], Applied Psycholinguistics[18][19], and Language, Cognition and Neuroscience[20][21]. His publications address topics such as multisensory instruction, sentence comprehension, teacher cognition, assessment, and the role of emotional and sensory intelligence in education. His h-index in SCOPUS is 22[22]
