Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas

[edit]

You are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:36, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Citation style

[edit]

Hello, I came across some of your recent citation style revisions to several articles & the related Talk page conversations you had about citation style consensus. I'd like to understand more about sfn versus ref style. Do you have a moment to share more of your thoughts? Do people ever mix citation styles, from what you've seen? Is sfn really unpopular? Personally I like sfn, but I don't want to get attached to a style if most editors don't use it. Thanks for your time. Chao Garden 🌱 (hi) 05:50, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I like to use sfn for books and journal articles (that have page numbers), and not when citing newspaper articles (that don't have page numbers). So yes, the references section would be mixed, very often. Hope that helps. -SusanLesch (talk) 15:52, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

edit on the Stephen Miller page

[edit]

Sorry to bother you, but it looks like an edit you made last November to the Stephen miller page identified Katie McHugh as a former editor at the SPLC, when I think she's a former editor at Breitbart who provided the emails to the SPLC. https://www.splcenter.org/resources/hatewatch/stephen-millers-affinity-white-nationalism-revealed-leaked-emails/

I would edit the wording myself, but the page is semi protected, and my account isn't confirmed, so I thought I'd bring it up here. Gotyaoi (talk) 03:39, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Alice H. Lichtenstein (2nd nomination). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (Alice H. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Baitullah Mehsud-AFP.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Baitullah Mehsud-AFP.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 999REAL 💬 02:23, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
