I had some plans for today - pick up some gourmet donuts at the farmer's market, go down to the library to work on fic, maybe do some thrift shopping - but uh, yeah, that ain't happening.

Took one look outside and the roads are absolute garbage. I decided to walk to the nearest grocery store (which is very expensive) rather than risk the highway in this mess.

It's not the end of the world, and like, obviously I'll Manage. But I'm sure not impressed, let me tell you internet.

living alone seems like a neat and even liberating idea, until you start feeling lonely and realize how expensive everything in this day and age is </3 every day i sit at home and wish my partners were here with me. i would love to live with my partners, but they live a few states away and i've lived in the same area my entire life. as a result, the idea of moving far away from my family does make me a bit anxious. but also the area my partners live in is very lovely, so i certainly don't mind living there. i still have time to think about it, though.

Soooo... It was fun while it lasted.

I haven't really been here on Dreamwidth in years, although I always remembered that this site existed as an alternative to the social media platforms.

I've been quite busy with drawing and painting, so I've just done less blogging and writing in general. Long story short, I was really into drawing until I went to art school for a year in 2014-2015, got depressed, and stopped drawing for almost 5 years. I only kinda managed to get back to it in the start of 2020 just before COVID hit.

I have no idea which platform I'll post my art now. I really was using Pillowfort for that, and PF really felt like it had organic reach and people actually interacted with each others posts. And I honestly, I found the other social media sites annoying. I know a lot of people still use Twitter, but I'm not going back to that trash fire. And apparently Bluesky is doing some AI stuff now? Sigh.

I do still use tumblr, although not in the way I used to, but it's way less art focused and more generic and fandom related topics. There seems to have been an increase in art blogs on there though, so idk. I'm also on Tiktok, but that's a whole another can of forms.

Anyway, just thought I'd write up this quick update to let people know I still have my login for this site, LOL.

Hungry ('26):「This hippo isn’t playing games.」The hungry hungry hippo one (except it's an omnivore). liked this more than I thought I would. I'm easy when it comes to there being a final girl. I did hate two of the deaths because they were so unclear. 3/5 stars

No Way Up ('24):「Brace yourself.」Another one I liked more than I thought I would! Airplane crash, sharks and survival. I appreciated that the queer man survived a lot. When the old person stays behind always gets me though, I get it but at the same time it makes me mad. Maybe when I'm that age I'll understand better. 3.5/5 stars

Dante's Peak ('97):「The pressure is building…」I got the hankering to rewatch this so it's not part of my challenge, but I really enjoyed it. I thought they did a good job with the characters, pacing, music etc! 4.5/5 stars

Hoppers ('26):「Act natural.」Really enjoyed this, it had a lot of heart and humor. I was a little sad Mabel couldn't communicate with the animals in the end anymore but they still had what she and her grandma had in the end. 4.5/5 stars




Cloverfield ('08):「Some thing has found us」Okay I have seen this before. There's no way that camera lasted that long without dying. I like how straightforward it is. You end up rooting for the characters a bit even though there was so much drama. It's left a little ambiguous whether two of them survived in the end but I mean, they were buried by rocks. 3.5/5 stars

Fall ('22):「Fear reaches new heights」I don't know what I was expecting what with the subject matter but I ended up having to look away multiple times due to the heights freaking me out. I feel like you see this kind of cheating plot a lot in similar movies. I like JDM but I didn't like his acting in this. Also there some plot holes that were hard to ignore there at the end. 3/4 stars

The Cycle ('26):「You can’t bury the past forever.」Had to watch without subtitles. People say it's best to go in without knowing anything but

Still, really sad story. At the end were they trying to cure or kill him? 3/5 stars

Wolfwalkers ('20):「Be fierce. Be wild. Be free.」I was not expecting this to be such a hard watch! Every time "it's for your own good" was said I wanted to scream! But it's also a gorgeous, beautiful story about finding your own home, freedom and family. I really appreciate that the runtime allowed for everything to unfold as needed for the story. Highly recommend. 5/5

The fall is where the real story begins.

My thoughts: A ways into this, I had to take a break for a while because my dad was in an accident and Sejin's grief and Dan's recovery were too much for me. Dan is an 'outside' person so having to spend so much time 'inside' put him into a depression and brought up old issues, while Sejin had to support them both with the bills hanging over his head.

This book covered so much and had a lot of character growth. There were so many supporting characters who played a part in the couple's recovery and growth. Dan's autism and Sejin's origins were explored well in my opinion. I like how side characters got there own little stories like Sailor, Rye and Lowell, Peggy Jo and Buck.

The narrator made even the ridiculous lines excellent, serious props to him. I smiled, teared up and laughed while I listened. I hope to find another book by this author to enjoy.

a new bookstore opened in my town and i got to visit it today! it was very cute, had a pretty nice selection of manga and vinyl records, and it's a very short drive from my place. something tells me that i'll be visiting this place often...

Luka had to move away because he knew Ladybug and Chat Noir's identity? That's awful, and what about the band?? 😭 The Lukadrien hug ughhh bittersweet.

Hmm I don't think Marinette should be going out with Adrien with what she's keeping from him, whether or not it's for a good reason. He wouldn't understand why he can't be with her which will hurt him more but when he finds out the truth it'll be worse...

And Marinette trying to convince Adrien Gabriel might've been better than he was, really? Adrien KNOWS he wasn't, it took a long time for him to admit it to himself and now she wants him to pretend again?? At least she comforted him when he didn't want the statue.

Nathalie knows Marinette is Ladybug too but I guess she won't leave unless Monarch knows she knows and even though idk.

Luka chose to leave and has a fake girlfriend in Brazil, he's still in love with Marinette and needs space. I just can't believe him when he says Marinette and Adrien are forming a beautiful symphony when there's so much wrong behind the curtains. *smh*

He told her why he really left and then rewound time and lied. Ughh. And Marinette using him as her therapist (I get it, she has no one else but Alya) even though he supposedly left for their safety makes it so much worse. Why does Luka still have his Miraculous??

Marinette tells Luka everything, and because he knows Adrien is Chat Noir he wants to help fix things but noooooo Marinette rewinds time. She now things are even worse off.

At least Adrien got to vent his feelings at the statue in the end. " I guess I'm going to have to live with unanswered questions." 😭

Well, there are Brazilian Miraculous? I wouldn't mind another show or movie focusing on other country's Miraculous again.

I've never been interested in Kim and Ondine so this episode was never going to work for me;; But hey, Nathaniel/Marc kiss!

Vincent Secret puts out content against Adrien and Marinette and in their naivety they try to talk to him and he makes it worse. Alya goes in to take him down but somehow doesn't think that he might get akumatized.

Alya finds out that Monarch is Gabriel Agreste. 

"You don't get to decide what Adrien should or shouldn't know." And her not telling Chat Noir because he could be related to Adrien but again, keeping it from Chat Noir is wrong too IMO.

Chat Noir came up with a new power and erased a pissed off Alya's memories... 😭 She is seriously too good of a friend.
