Perseus under PhiloLogic Problem Reports
Hi all,
Update October 23, 2026

Dear all, if you have tried to use our databases since Oct. 8, you have been confronted with a curt "Access forbidden" notice. The bot storms had been bad for a while, but two weeks ago, the old PhiloLogic4 was taken off-line because it had simply become too much of a security risk for the university network. We had been working away on PhiloLogic5 for Classics, and we can now release the first fruits of our labor (still work in progress!). Greek and Greek-English translations, as well as the stand-alone LSJ, are now back online. Please check out perseus.uchicago.edu for the links; when a collection is labeled with Φ5 (PhiloLogic5), we have released a new version. We'll try to get Latin done next.

Missing parses: if a word does not occur in our texts, our system probably cannot parse it either! Please try logeion.uchicago.edu and type or paste in your word, accents and all. Logeion will try and find a dictionary entry in the alphabetic vicinity of your search term; our Μορφώ service now also links you to morpheus for Greek and Whitaker's words as well as LemLat for Latin, which will be more reliable. We have removed the search box from our old perl morph script because it was causing server issues. We love our users, but love our sys admin more, because we want to keep our server:-). Please use Logeion instead. You can find Μορφώ in the Sidebar on the right.
