Now he's thinkin' 'bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso
Move it up, down, left, right, oh
Switch it up like Nintendo
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso
[Verse 1]
I can't relate to desperation
My give-a-fucks are on vacation
And I got this one boy and he won't stop calling
When they act this way, I know I got 'em
[Pre-Chorus]
(Mm) Too bad your ex don't do it for ya
(Mm) Walked in and dream-came-trued it for ya
(Mm) Soft skin and I perfumed it for ya
(Yes) I know I Mountain Dew it for ya
(Yes) That morning coffee, brewed it for ya
(Yes) One touch and I brand-newed it for ya (Ooh)
[Chorus]
And now he's thinkin' 'bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso
Move it up, down, left, right, oh
Switch it up like Nintendo
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso
Holy shit
Is it that sweet? I guess so (Mm)
[Verse 2]
I'm working late 'cause I'm a singer
Oh, he looks so cute wrapped 'round my finger (Yeah)
My twisted humor make him laugh so often
My honeybee, come and get this pollen
[Pre-Chorus]
(Mm) Too bad your ex don't do it for ya
(Mm) Walked in and dream-came-trued it for ya
(Mm) Soft skin and I perfumed it for ya (Ayy, ayy, oh)
(Yes) I know I Mountain Dew it for ya
(Yes) That morning coffee, brewed it for ya
(Yes) One touch and I brand-newed it for ya (Stupid)
[Chorus]
Now he's thinkin' 'bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso
Move it up, down, left, right, oh
Switch it up like Nintendo
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso (Yes)
Thinkin' 'bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so (Yes)
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso (Yes)
Move it up, down, left, right, oh (Move it up, down, left, right, oh)
Switch it up like Nintendo (Yes)
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me espresso

The song is kind of about seeing femininity as your super power, and embracing the confidence of being that bitch. Since the day I heard the song, I saw a beach atmosphere—and more specifically this kind of old school [and] modern environment. [I wanted to capture] the playfulness that I like to use throughout all of my videos. I also just wanted a pool car, to be frank.
I did write “Espresso” in France, I wrote it in a very very small town, all there was was a creperie, a church and like a really mid grocery store. Basically nothing on the shelves. I was there for a good bit and this was one of the songs I wrote when I was there. The track, which was produced by Julian Bunetta, was very indicative of the place that we were in and you can kind of feel the energy of like, the little French influence. At least I can, unless the French disagree, then I also agree with whatever they say. Lavelle.

It’s time for the beach video. Like I’ve just, I’ve never done a music video on the beach and it kind of dawned on me. I was getting ready to kind of think of a concept for the song, I was like “Oh I’ve never done a beach music video.” And that just seems like as an artist, everyone does at some point. Whether they’re like running on the beach, or they’re, I don’t know… So I was just like, I got to do the beach video, but like, how do we make it my own? It was definitely inspired by I would say like more classic visuals, but, like with a modern storyline and the idea of like, stealing this man’s credit card and just going wild with it. And you think he’s obsessed with you, and in reality he’s just trying to get his credit card back? I thought that that was a very fun play on the song and just Dave Meyers who I’ve always wanted to work with directed the video and was just so remarkable and collaborative and genius. So yeah it was very fun. I also drove the boat myself. I don’t have a boating license, I thought I was going to die, like I actually was very scared, because it was like an old vintage boat. There was no, like, button that I was just, like, supposed to press. I was like mouthing the words, there was like water in my face. This poor man on the back of a boat about to fall off. And he’s supposed to fall off, but like not all the time, and I was just, like, supposed to drive it. We shot the video in two days, the boat we did on day one, it was the first scene that we shot, so of course it was like: “hey, did you ever ride a boat?” “good morning” and i was like “okay…”
