Personally I feel like the colored version of the Oda Clan´s symbol is perfect. |

I was about to say it, yes, no need to change i think... And the colors of this flower actually reminds that it's a photo service, caracterized by the diversity of colors that we can see on it. |

I agree. I like the current logo as is. No need to change imho. What about conducting a poll to see if there is interest in changing it in the first place? Or maybe it was already done and I missed it? |

I think it has too much detail to be an app logo - for example the intermediate petals (the lines in between the inner and outer petals) can't even really be seen at this repo's icon scale (top left when viewing this repo's main page), and the shape of the inner petals (especially the line running from center to tip) is not distinguishable. It just needs to conform better to flag design rule # 1, keep it simple. It can still be a colored version of the clan symbol but simplifying the features that are hard to distinguish at a small size will make it a much better icon. |

BTW the Oda family still exists (ofc not as a Samurai; fun fact, ex-Olympian Japanese ice skater Oda Nobunari is actually a descendant of Oda Nobunaga) and I assume they still use the clan symbol for things like their gravestones. I'm no expert but I think it would be wise to lean on the safe side and stop using it. |

I personally don't like the icon: It's very busy and the small details get lost on smaller scales (e.g., iOS app icon, it's very hard to see the small embellishments). A better official logo is needed, if you don't like it just make a fork :D or make it possible to change it |

I absolutely love the current logo, about the font..umm 😅😅 I had a bad experience changing a product's logo, at least if you change it substantially, it takes too long for people to realize that the product is the same product in a different suit. |

The current logo is very good! Photos tend to be colorful and bright. The logo looks like a flower, and those flower petals remind of good old physical photos positioned in a circle. Also, the colorful logo stands out in my bookmarks and on phone home screen, so I can always easily find Immich when needed. The font, not so sure, it seems like it does not provide the best readability. |

While I do like the current logo, I think it's a bit too detailed for small screens. I think going with a simple flower design composed of 5 hearts in the original colours might simplify the logo while keeping the spirit of the original. I'll try to create a rough idea today. EDIT: |

@maxistviews I think adding aperture blades takes away the light hearted feel the logo has, but I might try it later just for fun. @arthuragone What kind of font did you have in mind? @stephen304 Thanks for the tip about the top level comment!

@jvgoch I agree with you sentiment regarding aperture blades. I think a lot of photo management or photography apps tend that way, but Immich as a tool for recalling memories or for enjoying moments is much better. I also think your logo simplifies the original substantially without losing it's heart. It does feel almost too simple by comparison to the original, but without context I am not sure that is a critique. |

This one is the best one I've seen in this thread. I wonder how would the mobile app icons look with a black background. I'm not sure about the round app icon on android with a black background but I have a S22 and OneUI has those almost squarish app icons which perhaps may look better with a black background app icon (like how Spotify, Netflix or GitHub has a black app background) and same can be said about the iOS app icon too... |

For the font, I would appreciate one that is easier to read for those with dyslexia. The Open dyslexic font is a good option, but it can feel a little hand-written as well. Maybe Calibra or Ubuntu, since sans-serifs fonts tend to be easier for those with dyslexia or older individuals. |

I actually prefer the one by @jvgoch, that's really what I was aiming for. But since I'm not a graphic designer and don't know how to properly do logo design in Figma, this is what I ended up with :D |

@stephen304 @Chaphasilor I think that this design has one advantage over @jvgoch in that it retains a central focal point. That's both a prominent feature of the Oda clan's symbol and a nice metaphor for Immich's place as a central location for all your images. Some medium between the two would actually be good, from my perspective. Something like this possible or with a solid core. I am not designer, so I'd leave this with someone more skilled to make a serious attempt.

@AngelaDMerkel I like your idea of combining them so I made an attempt to do one myself too :) The outer heart shape of the petals to me is the thing I like most about @jvgoch 's design since it retains original inspiration from the current logo, but I also like the smooth and modern shape of this one, and the center is more interesting on this one. So I had the idea to take the heart-shaped outer petals of jvgoch's combine it with the modern smooth "jelly-bean"-like shape of this one's center, as well as the grey center point which is an interesting design element. It has some artifacts since I just mashed them together in gimp, but it makes another interesting in-between point that has elements of both minimal modernity while retaining the petal-like shape that gives jvgoch's submission its character.

@stephen304 I think your rendition is the best. Having a dark coloured focal point also helps to make the icon much easier to recognise on a small screen. I think a series of colours on white doesn't stand out enough compared with other applications |

I like that this one feels noticeably different that the competition, everyone has a wheel of colors (iCloud photos and Google Photos). It also feels more artistic, which reflects the original. |

I tried to go with the same look and feel of the original logo, while incorporating a "shutter flower".

For people suggesting logos: please keep in mind that it needs to be simple enough to be recognizable when scaled down to browser tab icon and also look good both on light and dark background. |

That second one looks so vibrant and kind of celestial, somewhat like a black hole. That would be an interesting basis for an icon, somewhat kurzgesagt-ish. |

I like many of the submissions, but imho the final logo should differentiate much more to the shape and colors of the G Photos logo. Immich is an awesome project and it shouldn't be perceived as a copycat. |

it is very hard to see all the submissions now - I think we need a better place to vote for logos. I dont know if reddit is the best place, or a google forms link. But something where we can easily see all submissions and everyone can vote. |

Thought I'd give it a try as well. Ended up liking the monochrome version better as it would work with the "material you" design philosophy where the user could set a primary color that also affects the icon. At least on web and android. The fonts are alternating "Overpass" and "Noto Sans". I think Overpass would be the obvious choice for now as it is the default font and the text part could actually be text in HTML and the font could change with user preferences like the color. I kept the different variants on the left, also to show part of the design process.

The new logo rollout should wait until the software is considered stable, or a LTS version exists. A new logo will attract new users who may not stay without an expectation of stability. |

The first one also looks like the topview of a whirlwind of (classic) rectangular photo's that are being funneled down (or blown out). This is a lot like what Immich is: it collects all your photo's :D |

I'm in favor of a logo without the 4+1 colors. Here are some concepts for inspiration, some keeping some of the original elements/themes, others completely different. (none of these are meant to be final candidates)

I did Not expect to like such a non-minimalistic design, but I do. It is eye-catchy because of its extravaganza. I think it does not need the dots around it. And I don’t know if it needs three different main colors. Would love to see variants with one or two colors only. And a B/W-Version. There would be also the need for a tiny version. Probably a more abstract edition for the small occasions. Great work! |

I experimented with charging the app icon in flutter before, and with Android it should be possible using Activity Aliases, although I'm not sure if the app needs to be in foreground. If this icon will win I'll happily implement this feature. |

Hello, Immich fan!
As Immich started as a personal hobby project, I didn't expect it to grow as big and as fast as it is. The logo and the font for the name were quick iterations to develop something for the App Stores. Below is the backstory of them
The logo
Why the colorful flower, you ask?
I like the Japanese culture, especially the books, history, and food. The current logo is a spin-off of the Oda clan's symbol.
One of my favorite books is Taikō; it is a story about a prominent figure in the history of Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He came from nothing, and through his resilience and incredible mind, he has become one of the most powerful rulers in Japan's history. I enjoy his personality and the way he moved through life.
The color is an adaptation of App-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named's color scheme, with an extra color (pink) to complete the flower's fifth petal. The petal layers have the same color scheme as the primary layers, rotating back and forth to "bring the flower to life."
The font
The font I chose is called Snowburst One. It has the playful element of Comic Sans to remind me of the light-hearted approach and a fun, loving thing to do when I get to develop Immich for my wife.
I've received mixed feedback from different groups about the choices I made for the presentation of Immich. I want to ask the community for a better creative mind than mine to show your Immich logo idea that keeps the original spirit of Immich, with a different representation.
