ACTION REQUIRED: Update the MAM SDK in Your Application to Avoid End User Impact.

This is a heads up on some important updates that are available in the latest release (version 20.8.0) of the Intune MAM App SDK for iOS for Xcode 16.

ACTION REQUIRED: Application developers should integrate with version 20.8.0 (for applications compiled with Xcode 16) or later and release to production as soon as possible. This release contains some important updates for iOS 26 AND a critical change that will allow applications to continue to connect to the Intune MAM service.

IMPORTANT: Failure to update to 20.8.0 or above and deploy to production by December 15th, 2025 will result in end users being unable to access their organization data.

Note: Our team is also working to release an Xcode 26-compatible version of the Intune MAM App SDK for iOS: Version 21.1.0. This release will also contain the updates mentioned above.

Hi Kyle Reis (@Kyle-Reis) Can you please confirm, after December 15th 2025, applications with Intune SDK 20.7.0 or lower, will the users no longer be able to open the application itself, or is it just the app protection policy that will fail to work? Can users still use the application after December 15h, if the Intune SDK is not updated? Will there be an error message or warning for users explaning the issue?

Also could you please let me know, will Microsoft continue to support applications wrapped with Intune SDK 20.7.0 or lower in the support channels anymore to work? (Incidents etc.)

Hi iwmobility - After December 15th, users who have signed into the app and have MAM policies applied will eventually be blocked from accessing the application if it has not been updated to 20.8.0 or later. Not all users will experience impact immediately, as the timing may depend on the policy configuration of their organization (MAM conditional access, offline grace period timers, MTD integration policy, etc.).

Intune will continue to provide support for 20.x for as long as Apple accepts app store submissions compiled with Xcode 16, but we will not be providing down-level patches for 20.7.0 or below. App developers should plan to adopt 20.8.0 or above.

It is now 1/5 and this change has been pushed to 1/19 yet the first party Office apps remain not updated. How does Microsoft find this acceptable to inform us to prepare months in advance yet two weeks out from a change the core apps can't be bothered to be updated in a reasonable timeframe? The SDK the apps are using are now over a year old, I am sure we can find vulnerabilities in the several versions available since which is an entirely different problem. Perhaps the PGs should wake up here instead of spending countless hours renaming the 365 app again and again. We have yet to actually see the message that the user will see unlike the changes and MAM key from early 2024 to provide the users what they will see post event as well.

Hi Dajinni - we had been working closely with the Office team to resolve some complications they ran into with upgrading. The current release of Word, Excel PowerPoint, OneNote, Loop, and M365 Copilot should all include an updated MAM SDK version.

For clarification, the announcement here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/intune-service/fundamentals/whats-new#update-to-the-latest-intune-company-portal-for-android-intune-app-sdk-for-ios-and-intune-app-wrapper-for-ios indicates that failure to update will prevent the app from launching. Yet the announcement here implies the app will launch but fail to connecto to Intune MAM/organization data.

Can you confirm which is it?

Hi Jaxe (@JaxeH8k) - It is the latter. Connectivity with the Intune MAM service will fail, which depending on user state + admin configuration, may cause them to be blocked from accessing their account data in the app.
