My name is justafloofygirl, and I am a bed bound below the knee amputee. Over the last year, my husband and I have faced some of the hardest times of our lives. Our home has become nearly unlivable—there is no heat or cooling, the kitchen sink hasn't worked in over a year, and the doorways are too narrow for my wheelchair, leaving me confined to what used to be our living room. My husband is my caretaker, but he recently suffered a stroke and a fall that left him with back problems. Despite working 12-hour shifts caring for others since 1994, he still doesn't make enough for us to get by.
Because of our financial situation, I've had to stop taking both of my insulins, Eliquis, and other medications, even with Medicare. We struggle to afford bills, food, and rent, and our landlord refuses to fix anything in the house. I can't get to the bathroom because the doorways are too small, and we have no transportation. We need to find a safe, maintained, and handicap accessible place to live, but the cost to move and keep up with medical supplies is more than we could ever come up with on our own.
Donations will go towards finding a handicap accessible residence, covering first and last months' rent, utilities, my medications, and medical supplies. I hate asking for help, but I honestly don't know what to do. If you can help, I would be so grateful. If you can't donate, perhaps you know someone with a two-bedroom rental in Nashville or Madison who doesn't mind cats and would be willing to help someone who has fallen on hard times. Even positive vibes will help. I'm scared to put this out into the universe, but we truly have no other options. Please help if you can, and thank you for reading our story.
