Are you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Hello, hello, hello..

hammersickle — Sat, 15 Aug 2015 13:04:13 GMT

Is there anybody out there?

Did anyone go to Santa Clara or Chicago? I went to Chicago...and it was amazing!!

Hello there!

hammersickle — Wed, 24 Nov 2010 19:52:42 GMT

Hello to you all, from your long-lost mod.

I apologize for ignoring this community for so long. I work constantly (when I'm not touring the country for festivals and Phish shows,) so I don't have much time anymore for lj. I did, however, receive an email from a person who seems to be very interested in rejuvenating this community. Therefore, I'd like you all to welcome phried as your new moderator. I hope they can bring some life back into this place.

Sometimes, your cards ain't worth a dime, if you don't lay 'em down....

Peace and love,
Jen

hello, i'm new here and have been into the dead for a little while now. Having completely eaten up live/dead and various other random live takes and recordings here and there, i was interested in buying another live album from the dead and was wondering what your opinions or suggestions would be. At present i'm at a three way tie between the movie soundtrack, rockin the rhein and steppin out. Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

leshtricity — Sun, 29 Mar 2009 09:01:27 GMT

Been quiet lately...

SO- roll call for Greensboro, NC! My brother and I will most definitely be there. We may or may not have an extra ticket or two, we'll see.

Any Greensboro natives that can give us the lowdown on the venue?

If you're going to this show, post here!

So like, first Dead tour in awhile, I'm thinking we'll definitely get a Jack Straw. Scarlet > Fire OR Estimated > Eyes would be nice...both would be superb. I'd love to see them bust out a Brent tune (Blow Away, perhaps?) or some of the more obscure and neglected songs, like Reuben and Cerise, Hey Little One, etc. etc.

great googly moogly, here it is!

liquidmistletoe — Mon, 02 Feb 2009 15:03:37 GMT

So my friend and I went back to Plan A with the matching lyrics, but I appreciate the suggestions from the other day! but in any event, just in case you're interested, here is the final product...

liquidmistletoe — Thu, 29 Jan 2009 17:25:38 GMT

hey guys, looking for some suggestions...
so I'm getting a tattoo on saturday with my best friend. they are matching... of a Jose Posada skeleton and traditional style roses, with a banner with some grateful dead lyrics. Originally we had placed "maybe it was the roses" in the banner... but I had recently changed mine to "let there be songs to fill the air." Now my friend has decided she wanted to keep "maybe it was the roses," so now I was just thinking about whether or not I would want something else. I've been letting the dead sing to me nonstop for a few days... but I was just wondering if you all wanted to share your favorite lyric/quote. obviously I will be the one to choose what I want in the end, but since there's just sooo much music, I just want to be sure I didn't miss anything to consider! I'm running out of time D:

thanks guys, peace!

edit.... I thought maybe it would be helpful if I put some of the things that have been floating in my head...

-Maybe it Was the Roses

-Let there be songs to fill the air.

-Every silver linings got a touch of grey

-If you get confused listen to the music play.

-All he's lost he shall regain

-Speeding Arrow, Sharp and Narrow

-Like a steam locomotive, rolling down the track

-If I had the world to give;
-But I will give what love I have to give;
-If I had a Star to Give

-this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago

(I can't narrow this one down, agh!)
-Just a box of rain, wind and water
Believe it if you need it, if you don't just pass it on
Sun and shower, Wind and rain
in and out the window, like a moth before a flame

-Going where the wind goes, Blooming like a red rose

-So the kids they dance And shake their bones

-Rain gonna come but the rain gonna go

-wade in the water and never get wet

"Happy New Year, everybody!! Hope and change are in the air! So what better way to kick off 2009 than to confirm what’s been buzzing in the rumor mill for some time: The Dead will be touring for the first time in more than four years, with nearly twenty shows spread across a month from mid-April through mid-May! Details will be announced here soon, so keep your eyes on dead.net!

The lineup for this edition of The Dead will be the same one that rocked the house at Penn State last fall at the Obama benefit: The Core Four of Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, joined by guitar monster Warren Haynes and RatDog keyboard ace Jeff Chimenti (both veterans of the 2004 Dead "Wave That Flag" tour). The mood of the band for this Spring Fling is way up, so it’s sure to be a great tour!

Dead.net will be your official hub for ALL news about the tour, including dates and ticket info... and perhaps even a few surprises along the way!

So gas up the Tourmobile, get out that really wild tie-dye--you know, the one with the red spiral melting into the purple and green that’s in a heap of clothes in the back of your closet--and start getting into Show Shape!

You know it’s gonna get stranger, so let’s get on with the show...

your favorite live album?

leshtricity — Tue, 09 Sep 2008 03:31:54 GMT

Greetings my fellow 'heads.

What are your favorite live albums?

Personally...in no particular order:

Dick's Picks 18: Amazing CR Snow, BE Women, with probably my favorite Estimated > Eyes on disc two, with a killer Scarlet > Fire on disc 3.
Dozin' at the Knick: Great Row Jimmy, Masterpiece, Blow Away (Brent tears that one up) with disc 2 and 3 bringing us otherworldly renditions of Terrapin, Wheel, and Watchtower.
Without A Net: My favorite Cassidy, nice dark jam in the middle there. A good Let It Grow. Eyes is the standout for me. Don't forget Bird Song.
Road Trips, Vol II.: 1977, great stuff. Great Mississippi Half-Step, my favorite Black Peter, and a sick Terrapin.

Your turn!

Gathering of the Vibes

tonytraductor — Sun, 03 Aug 2008 16:12:18 GMT

Rhianna and I had business to attend to in Bridgeport on Friday.
I had all but nearly forgotten that Gathering of the Vibes was this weekend, but, when we stepped of the train in Bridgeport,
we saw the Vibes shuttle to go to Seaside Park.
So, we attended to what business there was (returned my plates to the DMV), at some lunch at Terra Brasilis,
and headed out to the park.
We arrived around 4pm and stayed until about 11:30 (only hear about the 1st 3 or 4 songs from the Black Crowes, which
I would have liked to stay and hear, but, we had trains to deal with, etc.).

When I saw the shuttle and told Rhianna that I wanted to go, and explained to her what GotV was, she said,
"Oh, no, Daddy...not some hippy fest..."
But, by the time I said,"Let's head back to the shuttle", she was begging to stay and camp out with all the hippies...
We didn't have a camping pass, anyway, nor tickets for Saturday, as much as I, too, would have liked to stay.
In any case, we had a LOVELY time!
