Lesson 6: First day back on the water and some regression

It's been about nine months since I last attempted to kite. I took another session with a kiteboarding school in Squamish. Not the greatest session in the world, and I'd regressed to the point of perhaps lesson 3 or 4. The freezing squamish waters, a mix of north pacific ocean water and freshly melted glacier water, had me blue in the hands in an hour and a half.

Challenges were:
Water starting to the right
Stance--couldn't get any heel pressure or lean back. (See picture below--I'm hunching over)
Edging

Successes were:
Water starting to the left
Riding to the left
Recalling the ground school content from the year before

I suppose the best part of the lesson was that the instructor took a picture. I'm calling it the $200 picture.

The guy teaching the lesson wasn't helpful for me. I actually feel misled by the owner of VKS as I described the guy I wanted a lesson with, and the owner assigned me a person who did NOT in any way match Jason. It turned out Jason had started his own kiteboarding school, which the VKS owner didn't tell me. Anyway, I've since tracked down Jason at Sea to Sky Kiteboarding and am excited about doing a session with him.
