I am a tired babboo. Work was insane - and at first it was very, very slow. I got the last of the inventory pics taken and manipulated to proper size in the morning. We had four orders to get out, and I got three those done after lunch while Matt was gone to town (the other was too much weight for me to do, or even help with). Matt got back from his errands and HOLY SHIT EVERYTHING EXPLODED. I expected to be out of there by two-thirty, maybe three. Nope. Four forty-five, and purely because we suddenly got several orders via phone and internet and had lots of customers stop by, which is rather weird for a Friday afternoon. I was doing find till about one-thirty and then my back started whining about walking around on concrete, but I didn't get a chance to so much as take a Tylenol for another hour.
Heh. Our last customers included a nice guy with a four-year-old that Meg had a blast preoccupying - but I notice that kiddo didn't know how to use the bathroom without getting pee on the seat. Also, he knew Dad was pretty much a pushover. Yeah. The other two customers in at the same time were very obviously Not From Around These Parts. Flamboyantly gay, but happily very familiar with fabric and there to buy, so I handled them until they made their fabric selections and Matt was able to get away from Jakey's Dad and cut it for them. I took care of Jakey's Dad at that point (needed a hat band, go, hot glue gun!), and then Matt and I switched again while I showed the other two guys some other things I thought they might be interested in. We hit the warehouse about three times and they'll be back when they've done some consulting with others about swatch colors, etc. Those guys are memorable.
In between times, Matt and I just looked at one another in bemusement at all the sudden work. He was running around like he was on crack, and I was stiffening up pretty badly, but waddling just as fast as my pregnant behind would let me. Finally, the two guys left (to return to their "fairy sanctuary on the mountain," no, really - and it was hard to tell if they meant "sanctuary for flamboyantly gay folk" or "sanctuary for the fae," but I was truly more concerned with getting them taken care of than assuaging my curiosity; my lower back was singing the Queen of the Night aria at me and about to start in on something from Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima) and I was able to leave, as Jakey's Dad was paying for the hat that he offered to buy Jakey and Matt was taking care of him, to close up shop right after. You betcha Meg and I ate dinner out. Not about to stand up some more and make dinner when there was a perfectly good paycheck deposited today. Not with this back.
Tomorrow, we'll leave early and head to east TN in time to make the baby shower. B is driving himself home tonight in the rental which is the normal provision of his parents for such drives. Thank God, because, yes, sing it with me, my back is killing me. I barely want to get up from my computer chair, let alone up and out of the car. I'll get some packing done tonight after this load of laundry finishes drying. Meg's getting some things together right now for her to wear, and when I'm done here she'll finish up her school day with her computer work while I fold laundry, pack, and probably sew some more, if I don't fall over asleep at some point.
Next week about half the week will be in L'burg, yay! I get to see my fambly! Thursday is doc appointment in Nashville in the morning, which Momma will likely enjoy at least a little, as she'll get to see an ultrasound of Rose in person (as it were). Friday will be the Farm School gathering which Momme, Miranda, Meg, and I are going to again, and which I'm looking forward to with yet a little trepidation, as that's not a small amount of walking for me at the moment. They may do the tour thing again, and if they do, I'll opt out and just hang out near the school, or maybe talk to the midwives if they're available. Momma's going to be driving us to that, too, so that's another good thing, as it'll be Grandpa and Granny's newest van, which is quite comfy in the seating. I'm glad that Summertown is much nearer where I'll be laying down my head than last time.
All right. I need to stop procrastinating on the getting up and doing useful stuff. Everyone have a good weekend.
