When I was in college there was one summer I decided to live at my father's house until classes started up again. My mom and I didn't really get along for various reasons and my dad moved out when I was in elementary school. I got along well with his wife (at the time, they've since divorced) and my stepsister and I were close. I thought it might be fun for a change. Boy, was I wrong!

One day my dad had a few drinks (or 6?) and yelled at me over something really trivial. I was emotional due to it being that time of the month and started to cry because he was really nasty about it. The next thing I know he calls me a CUNT (and loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear it). I left the house, after calling my best friend to come and pick me up, and hid by the bushes out front of the house.

I didn't return until the evening. By then my father was really wasted and crying and all emotional. He said he'd been out looking for me (a lie btw) and was all upset. I can't remember what I said but I do remember I was pissed and knew whatever I said wouldn't be remembered the next day anyway. I think I told him he was an asshole or something along those lines.

I guess I forgave since it was a few years ago now...okay 7? But when your own father calls you something like that, it's not easily forgotten.

My brother found something online that states my grandfather was going to run for the constable position in my hometown--in 2006--when he turned 80! He was supposed to run for the position in March 2007....but that's when he died.

Anyway, like my brother said, my grandfather never ceases to amaze me. He was active in the community up until his death. He volunteered for Meals On Wheels, taught people basic computer skills and other things at the town senior center and he also helped people learn english by spending time with them and having basic conversations.

I miss him.

Oh, and Im catching up with my Uncle Stephen, an older brother of my father. We've never talked before, not that I can recall as I was too young, and he's great! Been married 37 years and has 4 children...so more cousins:)

365 Project--Day 48 Bay farm

Day #48: Bay Farm Field. Not the first time I've posted photos taken there. Will and I visit it pretty frequently, tho not as frequently as we used to when we lived closer. It was a foggy/misty early afternoon and I thought it looked pretty. We walked around a bit, tho it was muddy and mucky. but we were passing a little time until we could visit Jack. He is a friend of Will's, in his 40s, knew his dad, and is in a wheel chair. He enjoys having company.

365 Project--Day Birthday Victor and Victoria!

My kitties turn 3 today! <3 I didn't really buy anything special since they have all these new toys I haven't taken out from Christmas (Will's Mom gets them a stocking). So I opened up the toy drawer and took out two new balls and a new fur mouse. Well, Victor went insane over one of the balls. He carried it everywhere in his mouth this morning but I could not catch it on film. He was running around, throwing it in the air and batting it so he could chase after it. We also played fetch with it and he would growl if Victoria went near it, so he was a little protective of his new toy.

I fed them wet food this morning, which I normally don't, so that was a treat and it was the new flavor I found of Wellness Cat Food. I also gave them treats.

It's hard to believe I've had them almost 3 years come June. Pam knew I was very sad about Troy passing away and then suddenly she wanted me to foster a litter of kittens. I didn't think I'd be able to keep any of them but then it all happened and I got two great cats. They both have completely different personalities. Victor is what I'd always hoped I would get in a cat--friendly, funny, dog-like, vocal, my shadow and understanding (a lot like our cat BK when I was growing up). but Victoria is also sweet and great in her own ways, she will sit on my lap when Victor is not a lap cat at all. She also lets me hold her and she purrs, so she actually wants me to hold her. She also is vocal but her voice is scratchy and cute. She also gives me space! Victor, on the otherhand, is very needy. He'll sit and meow at me and has to be with me in the bathroom, either laying by my feet or sitting on the sink rubbing heads. Victor likes to be chased, Victoria likes to be cuddled. I got the best of both worlds, a cat that likes to play and a cat that likes to snuggle:)

Anyway, this is also a chance for me to post a million photos. All have been posted at one time or another. but this one is from tonight, I can't get a good photo of them together! I have some, under the cut too, but Victor is the alpha cat and he always tries to take over these days.

Day #23: No excuse for the mail carrier to not bring mail today! Infact, the mail did arrive around it's usual time. I shoveled this walkway myself, all the way to the edge of the road (a couple feet past the end of the walkway) so that we would get mail.

No more snow please, Spring is just a short while's away.

At 2:30am I was awoken by stomach pains. I went to check on Victoria and she seemed better, purring and being friendly. That was a relief. Then I had more pains around 8:30am, so I finally got up, showered, then called out from work. I called a nurse at my doctor's office, left a message and was able to be seen a few hours later (pretty impressive but it helps that it's a Monday as well).

All in all there wasn't much they could do for me. They think, at least for now, that I am dealing with some sort of gastritis or gastroenteritis--honestly I forget which. and they told me to take pepcid AC. I have taken one after I bought some after my appointment and it didn't do anything. I still feel nauseated right now and my stomach hurts:( It hurts more than it did during my appointment, which I said to the doctors that it would get worse as the day went by.

I really hope this clears up soon because it's awful:( I'd rather be puking or something because then I might have some relief:(

and I made an appointment for Victoria for Thursday. She was back under the bed again earlier. Then she seemed better but I would rather have her seen by the vet then have something happen....

Day #12: Will made me these origami earrings, along with a triangle-shaped box that matches them, made from the same paper. Each set of earrings he makes (he's made several now) takes an hour or so depending on his level of patience.

Rats To A Good Home

My mom works at a pet store and recently a customer came in. He had got two rats for his pet snake but the snake wouldn't eat them. The customer's wife won't let him keep them as pets (but a snake?). Anyone interested in adopting them? or know anyone who might be willing? I can get photos and more info if needed. Just leave me a comment or email me at midnightmoon006 at yahoo dot com.

I'd love to take them myself but I don't really have the supplies to care for them and I don't think Will would let me. :( Rats also don't live very long and I've had my share and it's always sad when their time comes:(

Victor gets himself into some silly situations, today was no different:

Victor got into the hallway. He knows he's not supposed to be out there but the hall always tempts him. So I decided to let him hang out there since the neighbors weren't home and no one would be opening the door. You can see the guilt on his face.

"Alright, alright, Im coming down!"

"Or not? What's up there?"

In a flash he was up on the banister.

"Yea! Look at me! I may be big but I can fit up here! I feel so high up!"

"Here I am...sitting tall...yah yah..." and you can see his "V" mark on his chest.

"How do I get down from here anyway? It sure seems like a long way down..."

"Mom, are you going to help me? I can't remember how to get down..."

"Maybe if I go up here? It seems awfully slippery though..."

"Gosh Darn, I give up! Im tired of sitting up here:(" *pout*

"There IS a way down, isn't there? Im not trapped up here forever am I?!?"

I missed the shot but he did finally make it down...

"I did it, Mom! I made it down! I am great, aren't I?"

"I did learn my lesson. This hallway isn't as cool as I thought."

I left the door open and eventually he wandered back into the apartment. Im sure next week he'll be dying to go back to the hall! Maybe in our next adventure....he'll be in the basement!

yay...cat pee!!

So the other day I went to Ikea and purchased a new rug to put by the tub in my bathroom. One of the cats (never caught one of them in action) was peeing on the old one on and off. I washed it but never used an enzyme cleaner on it. But whoever was peeing on it did not do it regularly, so I figured I could get away with it. Well someone peed on it again recently and that was the last straw. I tossed the rug and bought the new one....

Fast forward to 48 hours later, I saw the corner flipped over on the new rug and I knew what had happened....bleh. I was angry and disappointed. This type of behavior can mean a cat has a UTI or crystals. Or else it can mean the cat peed on the rug one time for whatever reason and realized how soft and comfy it was to use for the potty.

I talked to Will's Mom about what to do since she works for my vet. She said, to save me time and money making an appointment, that I needed to get urine samples from each cat! I was like, "How the heck do I manage to do that?" and she told me about using these non-abosorbent plastic pellets in the litterbox and then sucking up the pee in a syringe. The pellets were just there to give the cat something to scratch in. I was doubtful but decided to go ahead with it. Will's Mom brought some of the pellets to Will for me to use.

I first washed out the main litterbox and poured the pellets in. The second litter box was one I had purchased earlier that day from Walmart. Anyway, while I was getting their dinner ready (and adding extra water to the wet food to help them need to go) I heard a noise. I walked into where I had left the litter box with the pellets in it for Victor. The litter box had been overturned and the pellets were all spilled! Arug!! Both cats ran away for their lives.

Anyway, after cleaning that up I locked Victoria in the bathroom and Victor in the second bedroom where the regular litterbox is. Victoria was miserable and cried often throughout the night. I could hear her trying to get the door open. I had put a cat bed in the bathroom for her earlier because I felt sorry for her but she had peed on it (so now I have my suspicions who the culprit was peeing on the bathroom rug) so I had removed it and she had no where comfy to sleep. I would have been pissed too! lol

Im surprised Victor stayed in the bedroom because the door can only be slightly wedged shut. The bottom of the door needs to be planed. but he stayed in there with food and water and I didn't hear a peep out of him.

I woke up an hour earlier than my alarm and ran to the bathrooms like it was christmas morning. I grabbed the syringe I had for Victoria's sample and tipped the litterbox on one corner. Gosh, the smell was awful. I'll never take absorbent cat litter for granted ever again. At first glance it didn't look like there was much urine there but I got half a syringe full! Score! Then I dashed off to Victor's litterbox and I had no problem gathering his sample. He's twice the size of Victoria and there was more than enough urine. Gag.

I can't believe I managed to get samples from each cat! woot! I feel like this was a major accomplishment!

Tonight the urine samples will go out to the lab and come morning I should have the results. I hope nothing is wrong. but at the same time if there is nothing wrong than it might mean a number of things....1, whomever is peeing loves using the rug because it's comfy. 2, I might need to keep a second litterbox available from now on since some cats are extremely picky about the box being very clean (not that I could blame them).

Anyway, I guess there is a chance the samples won't be good enough. Not because I didn't get enough but I heard that a lot of vets will get a direct sample from the bladder to make sure it's sterile. So let's hope for the best!

and hopefully I will never have to take a urine sample again!

I was kind of bored tonight, so I dug out my old art box that I used in college and used my soft pastels to draw Victoria. I looked at a photo I took recently. Plus, it's after midnight and so even though it isn't perfect, it's the first drawing--real drawing--that I've done in years. Kind of like flexing an old weak muscle in my brain.

It's discolored but getting better. Im going back to the doctor tomorrow and we shall see what is said. I can't wait til the scab is gone. It's very itchy.

Got some pretty photos of Victoria today. Nice lighting. It's been kinda rainy and grey a lot lately, so it's nice to see the sun.

It takes time but I have earned money through this site, a check for 27 dollars. You have to earn 30 dollars before you can claim a check, and they charge you like 3 bux to send the check but it's easy money and doesn't take much time out of your day. I read emails (and maybe get like 2-3 a day at the most but you can ask for less I believe). I have put money forth (like 10 bux) and played games online (only works with IE). I also have signed up for other services and earned money through that.

Currently my account is up to 36 dollars. I plan on just letting it build for a longer period of time. :) Can't hurt to check it out!
