Summary: She had to tell them sometime...
Chronology (if any): A month after Aftermath of a Problem
Warnings (if any): A bit angsty, Demon!Ed, non beta-ed
It had been a little over two months since Nina and Meas had held their sixteenth birthday...
...And Nina was currently in the bathroom, doing the traditional prayer to the porcelain bowl while her Ed-Papa was standing outside, ready to help if she asked for it.
Taking a few deep breaths, she slowly stood. Her knees wobbled a bit as she moved to the sink to get some water to get rid of the horrible taste in her mouth.
Once that deed was done, she looked at herself in the mirror. She looked horrible.
Her hair was sweaty, clinging to her face. Her eyes were dull with black circles underneath. It was no wonder that her mother had told Ed-Papa to stay home and watch over her.
She hadn't told anyone yet, and that was her big problem. She knew that she would probably begin to show in a few months, so she had to tell them before that happened.
'But I already know how they will react,' she thought. 'Mother, Otousan and Father will give that Look that tells me I've disappointed them, Dad will tell me that I am too young, and Papa will make me wish I
hadn't even thought about telling them.' She held back a sob that almost escaped.
'Maybe I should just get it over with, then.'
Her thought were disturbed by a few gentle knocks on the door.
"Nina?" her Papa's voice floated through. "Are you all right?" Taking a few calming breaths, Nina walked to the door and opened it.
"Yeah, I'm all right," she almost whispered, smiling a little as she saw the worried look on Ed's face. 'He can be so misleading, sometimes...'
A cool hand came in contact with her forehead.
"I wonder what's wrong with you," Ed murmured. "You haven't been feeling well for quite a while."
Nina took her papa's hand and held it between her own. As he looked questioning at her, she took a deep breath and--
--dropped the bomb.
"Papa, I think I'm pregnant."
Silence.
Golden eyes just stared at her for a few seconds, figuring out if she was just playing a joke.
She wasn't.
"WHAAAAAAT!?!"
Nina recoiled from the fanged demon that had currently taken her loving Papa's place.
"WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN!?!" the demon hissed, forked tongue showing between the fangs and eyes glowing.
Nina gulped.
"I--I think it was at the party-"
"YOU THINK!?!" The demons eyes glowed an angrier red now. "DO YOU THINK AT WAS ONLY A JOKE WHEN ROY TOLD YOU TO AT LEAST USE PROTECTION, AND-"
It was strange how a single sob could break through the demons angry yells, but as soon as Nina began to cry softly, the demon stopped and looked at her.
With a deep sigh, the demon disappeared and her Papa stood in it's place once again. As he began to draw closer to hug her, the heavy sobs broke through and soon she was weeping into her Papa's arms.
"I'm scared," she whispered as the sobs began to die down.
"There there," he muttered, running a soothing hand over her back. "We will talk to the others as soon as they get home."
"We'll find a way to make it all work out," he promised, "you'll see."
