Why do you call Discord a “dark web”?

You’re right that Discord shouldn’t be the only place a project lives. But that’s not what this is. PadManiacs is small, the server is empty, and itch.io stays as the public record no matter what happens here.
The reason for the Discord is practical: the next features (leaderboards, online multiplayer, SSC and DWI support) are hard to build alone. I need fast back-and-forth, not comment threads that take months to appear. Discord is where that conversation can happen. itch.io can’t do that.
So if the server dies tomorrow, nothing important is lost. But if it works, it’s where the game actually gets built with you.
I’ve set up a Discord for PadManiacs. It’s live now, and it’s empty.
That’s on purpose. I’d rather have a handful of people who actually play the game than a server full of lurkers. So I’m not going to pretend it’s busy.
What’s there
- #bug-reports and #feature-requests, so things get tracked instead of buried in comments here
- #testing, with a link to the latest build that updates on every commit
- #charts-and-packs and #modding, for sharing packs and add-ons
- #support, for install and song loading questions
- #general, for everything else

Bugs, feature requests, chart sharing, and early builds.
English and Spanish welcome.
What I’m hoping for
People who play the game, who want to report what’s broken, argue about what to build next, and share charts. Early members get credited in the game.
English and Spanish are both fine.
If you join and it’s quiet, that’s just because it started today. Say hi and I’ll answer.
It was a video of the game playing itself (Autoplay — it’s a rhythm game) with a Touhou Project song. It doesn’t have likes or comments; for some reason, people don’t interact with the video — they just go straight to the game. The same happens with the Reddit post: it helped people find the game, but interaction is low. They just click the link or google it. And regarding indexation: getting indexed on itch was easier in previous years, but now it’s stricter.
Yes, you can make mods on your phone using Acode.
However, you’ll have to wait for the update. I’ve been adding documentation entries to all the methods and properties of every class in the game.
The update is almost finished and is coming next week (though I can’t promise an exact date). Once I release it, you’ll be able to explore the new comprehensive Modding Documentation, dynamically generated from the code. You’ll be able to see what you can and can’t do with the game, along with working example addons.
Not only the itch.io version, but all Padmaniacs builds I uploaded before yesterday are affected. I accidentally uploaded the wrong build files, and unfortunately, my internet connection is currently too slow to reupload the Windows build. I’ll replace the Web and Android builds with fresh files right now, but the Windows build will have to wait a bit longer.
Yeah, that’s expected. The current APK is built for Android 5+ with a target of Android 9. On newer devices, Android throws that compatibility warning — you’ll need to tap “More details” and then the tiny “Install anyway” button that shows up.
Can’t fix it right now since I’m coding on a potato phone with no PC. Once my new mobile assault tank (phone) arrives, I’ll be able to compile Cordova myself and retarget to Android 16, which should cover Android 8–16 smoothly.
For now, just hit “Install anyway.” You might also get a Play Protect warning saying it’s malicious — that’s just because it’s not on Google Play. Ignore it and proceed.
And no, it’s not a virus. HTML5 apps can’t do system-level damage, and I’ve got zero interest in your data. Quick search will confirm.
Good luck, and have a great day, player.
Sure! Online leaderboards and online multiplayer are both planned. I’m focusing on stability first – there are a few bugs that came with the last update that I want to squash before adding anything new. Once those are cleaned up, I’ll start working on leaderboards, then move to multiplayer from there. Thank you for the support!
This is just what I’ve been looking for. I tried with my game and it worked partially. The code hit the wall with Node.js API.
Please make fs module work correctly. Simple things like reading a directory were impossible. fs.readdirSync is always returning an empty array.
But it’s a great alternative to NW.js and Neutralino. Thank you so much for your work and for keeping it MIT
