Walking After You

Something amazing happened to me tonight but first let me give you a little background.

I was sitting in my room restlessly when I decided to go for a midnight walk not but one hour ago. I took my ipod with me because the other day I had it at work and I used it from the writing lab to my car and I found it very calming. I decided I need that kind of refreshment again. So I put it on shuffle and went on my way.

About two years ago is when I went on my first few walks. Alot of you have probably heard about how when I left high school I used to go on late night walks because it was the strangest feeling knowing that everyone else was in bed getting sleep for school the following day at school. I used to walk by this tree that sits right under a light post and I was intrigued by the way the white light would hit the branches and light them up in a way that made the black sky look like someone threw a rock at it and cracked it in all directions showing a bright light breaking through. The tree isn't all that important except that it was the place that this all started.

Tonight I was walking to that tree that is now full of leaves. At this point I was listening to a song by placebo which is relavent..

Run away from all your boredom
Run away from all your whoredom and wave
Your worries and cares
Goodbye

All it takes is one decision
A lot of guts, a little vision to wave
Your worries and cares
Goodbye

It’s a maze for rats to try
It’s a maze for rats to try
It’s a race, a race for rats
A race for rats to die

I was thinking about how it looks in the winter when these two pit bull looking dogs ran at me. I could hear them snarl through the music in my ears and it scared the shit out of me. So I just lowered my hand to try and make friends. One of them ran up to me and it was really freindly. It was a puppy probably two or three moths old. The other dog was mean and big, it didn't trust me so it ran away. As soon as I calmed down and realized that these dogs weren't going to kill me I started to walk away. The puppy started to follow me. I was afraid it was going to lose the other dog and then it would be by it'self so I started to look for the other dog with it. After walking around with this puppy for a short time I found the other dog and they got back together. So again I started to walk away but the puppy just kept leaving the other dog and following me. I started to shew the dog away telling it to go home and after awhile I just gave up thinking that it would eventually stop following me, but it didn't. I kept shewing the dog away untill it got to the point where I was chasing it and yelling at it to leave. But everytime I was sure I had scared it away I would look back and it was right there following me. I tried over and over again getting louder and louder to get the puppy to leave me alone but it didn't care it just kept following me. In the middle of all this screaming and shewing I realised what song I was listening to and it this is what was so amazing. It was a song softly sung by the foofighters called Walking After You..

Tonight I’m tangled in my blanket of clouds
Dreaming aloud
Things just won’t do without you, matter of fact
I’m on your back

If you walk out on me, I’m walking after you

If you’d accept surrender, I’ll give up some more
Weren’t you adored
I cannot be without you, matter of fact
I’m on your back

If you walk out on me, I’m walking after you

Another heart is cracked in two, I’m on your back

I cannot be without you, matter of fact
I’m on your back

If you walk out on me, I’m walking after you
If you walk out on me, I’m walking after you

Another heart is cracked in two, I’m on your back

I wish I could have kept that puppy.
