<lj:music>I'm a Mess - Ed Sheeran</lj:music>

Yes, I know I haven't posted in a long while and now there's 2 posts... whhhaaaat???!

This is just a safe place right now. where I can just write things down that I really can't control.

Husband doesn't have a job yet and it's making me panicky. I'm stuck here at work and not really motivated to do any work at all. All I keep seeing is lovely people on instagram who get to stay home and create wonderful things... and that's what I want to do. The thing is, to make a living out of it, you need a market, a presence and really... popularity. I don't really have much of that.

Is it too much to ask to just stay home, putter around, create, make things, be creative with something yummy on the stove, in a mug and fabric, yarn and paper covering my house... instead of dishes, laundry and a multitude of toys that I could break my neck on.

I'm bursting at the seams with things I *want* to do, to make... and no outlet or time.

To the man who let my husband go

    <lj:music>Nina - Ed Sheeran</lj:music>

.... it's been almost 2 years now since you let him go from a job he put 17 years into. You promoted him, twice, only to let him go. I would love to know why you promoted him and then just thought 'hey this guy could go'. I'm sure you'll say 'it wasn't up to me' ... well you vouched for him in the past, why didn't you this time?

My husband says that you were torn up when you had to do it. I don't believe it for a second. I'm sorry. I don't know you, but I don't think you gave a damn what happened to my husband or our young family... with a little baby. Maybe you thought 'better him than me'.

We're just in a bad place right now. I'm working like crazy to keep the bills paid and a roof over our heads. I'm exhausted, my nerves are shot, my fuse is short and our city is horrible for finding a job. Most of the time I come home more tired than I started and I still have to keep going and 'try' to keep a smile on my face. My husband has been on several interviews but nobody is taking him because of this whole 'fiscal restructuring' garbage. No one believes him. No one will give him a chance. They all say they'll call the next week but they never do.

So thanks for two years of hell.... I hope it was damn worth it for your company's bottom line.

No love ever,
me

P.S. If I ever see you, I will introduce myself and my little boy and tell you all of these things in person. I don't care what my husband will say to me after. You have to know that when you let someone go, you let a whole family go.

Gonna be a really short post but...

I really want to slap around the doctors in our region lately - especially those who only push pain medication and pills on their patients and don't follow up!!!

I'm just disgusted. I thought doctors were supposed to do no harm... well, when your dad almost ends up in the ICU with 2 infections, and your bestie is getting dicked around royally, I get more than a little pissed off and wondering what the hell these doctors are actually doing?

The lack of care in this world confuses and infuriates me... and I just don't understand it, at all.

:'(

And... of course, I'm helpless to help out when I want to so badly, yet there's nothing I can do about it. I have no power other than to just try and cheer up those I love, and sometimes I can't even do that properly. I wish I was a better person.

Oh my lord. I love my little boy but he needs to learn how to sleep better. Given, he's got more teeth coming in ... early *sigh* After he got his last two I was so relieved and he gave me two really nice nights... and that was it, the past couple weeks he's been up every 2 hours or less no matter what I do. I give him homogenized milk at story time, cereal before bed, breastmilk when he's falling asleep, a tiny dose of tylenol when he's really chomping on his fingers... when he wakes up I nurse him, change him, make him as comfortable as I can and still, the poor little guy won't sleep and it's taking it's toll on me.

I'm getting overly irritable, annoyed and frustrated at the smallest things. I know it's not his fault, my poor little baby boy, it's hard getting teeth and growing and getting comfortable, but mommy needs sleep.

I think I've cried in the middle of the night every night for the last year. I wish there was a different way for me to express my feelings, but crying does it for me. It could be worse, I could throw things or get angry, but I cry.

Anyway, I'm rambling and I just needed to get somethings out without bothering anyone in particular with my mom stuff.

So, this time last year, I was hugely pregnant and still thinking I had one week to go before I had my little boy. Everyone was smiling at me and telling me how beautiful I was even though I was stressed out with the baby's room being remodeled and it going veeeery slowly, and I was moving very slowly as well.

Tomorrow is my little boy's birthday and I can't believe it. One year of cuddles, snuggles, little giggles, wondering when he'd be doing certain things like giggling, rolling over, crawling, waving, clapping... and I'm still wondering when he's going to be sleeping through the night.

In other words, I'm tired, I don't get as many people smiling at me, but they smile at my little man so I'm happy.
OMG, have I mentioned how I dislike heavy snow? The day before we got piss-down rain, then Sunday morning... heavy snow! Didn't even realize until Ray was going to work and he said 'oh.... snow'. Usually my wonderful DH does the shoveling but it was my turn yesterday... and boy am I paying for it today. Feels like someone did kick me in the back, repeatedly.

If that wasn't enough (I know, glutton for punishment), I went out grocery shopping. I actually like going grocery shopping by myself but, not in the snow that feels like concrete clinging to my feet, and the cold in my lungs. It got done though. Plus I rewarded myself by making oatmeal raisin cookies when I got home and a 2 hour nap after that. Nice.

It was a really good weekend for movies though! Stranger than Fiction was on TV on Friday night and I had forgotten how much I looooooooove that movie. It's so funny and sweet and, well, if you haven't seen it, you should. :) Saturday we watched Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was really graphically disturbing. I was shocked and at the beginning I was saying I loved it, cause of the mystery, but then they got into her story and omg, yeah, I didn't really like those parts even though they were integral to her character. But the mystery in it, I loved. Then yesterday, 'Scoop', 'Hellboy' and 'Vicky Christina Barcelona' were on. I kinda slept though Hellboy just cause I've seen it so many times, and Scoop I only watched for a few minutes cause I have it, but I watched a good chunk of VCB. I really like it... but Ray doesn't like the narration, so I turned it off as we've seen it before too.

It was an okay weekend, it went by a little fast and I wanted to knit a little more but after yesterday, I couldn't pick up any needles if I could. lol I really hope this was the last snow we get this season.

First of all, Happy Valentine's Day everyone :) And if you don't like Valentine's Day then, .... have a happy day anyway :)

Second, I was watching television last night and CTV had their Anniversary of the 2010 games in Vancouver. It was so cool to look back on all the moments that made me into a blubbering patriotic mess! :)

I finally got to see Sid the Kid's Golden Goal too. I don't ever think I told this story but I was watching the game up until the overtime period. I was such a chicken... I couldn't watch because if we lost, I knew I'd totally barf. So I busied myself on the computer trying to figure out how to put songs on my new cell phone. The reaction from the other room from Ray was of total disbelief:

"Oh my god..."
"What?"
"Crosby scored!"
"WHAT? We won?!!"
"Yeah, he totally just scored off Iggy!"

And now that I'm telling this story, I'm sure I wrote about it last year! LOL But still, being able to see that goal and see all the reactions all over Canada, the whole country just kind of erupted!! I remember hearing reports about what was going on in Toronto and they had to shut down the downtown core just because everyone emptied into the streets to celebrate! I'm not a huge Crosby fan, like at all, but dude... way to save it up for the 'Holy Mackinaw, what a Beauty Goal'!! :D

So I'm wearing red today for 2 reasons now :) I think I may just knit those 2010 mittens that I have in my pattern stash - I do have some leftover Red and White yarn that could do easily. :)

And yes, just like last year, I wept like a little Canadian girl :)

It is fracking cold today -24, all of you in warm climates can bite my shiny frozen ass! LOL Hopefully I won't have to go out until knit night tonight.

I did have to go out yesterday - to the Doctor's office. This is a new doctor since my other one well, he took a dive into the Niagara Gorge off the rainbow bridge. All of our speculation (our as in my family) points to him having a terminal disease and knew what was coming. It was a huge shock to a lot of people but then again, he was a bit dramatic. Anyway, the new doctor I have is really nice and they have an after hours clinic which means if I get bronchitis again (*spits*) I won't have to wait 3 days for an appointment. But I had some blood work done and I found out the results yesterday - I am, perfectly healthy. In fact the nurse practitioner said my good cholesterol was higher than my bad. Okay, so I eat the same stuff as Ray does, actually, a little worse than Ray does, and how is my good cholesterol better? Butter is my friend... I don't get it, but I'll take it!!

Lately I've gotten back into anime, and it's sort of a rebellion issue. Some people rebel by getting tattoos, or being a dick, or seeking adrenaline - I want to change my hair. hexenhasel helped me out by dying my hair a reddish brown (so pretty, only a semi) and I cut small chunks close to my face ... just a slight change. But now I'm wondering how cool I would look if I had black hair and like, pink chunks?? I blame my want to push the envelope at work (hey, I've seen other girls who work for lawyers with awesome multicolour hair), and watching Ramona on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World... her goggles are awesome too, want! I don't think I'd go that far though, I'm a major chicken and even getting a permanent hair colour freaked me out and I returned it for the semi-permanent. Oh well, maybe one day.... when I've won the lottery and I've got a little knitting shop with a cupcake stand inside, I can afford to go a little wild like that.

Oh, and speaking of Scott Pilgrim, I really need to pick up the soundtrack now! I took a look on iTunes and the song that The Clash at Demonhead sings in the movie, on the soundtrack it's sung by Metric!!! And it's called Black Sheep!!! If you don't know what I'm talking about you need to watch the movie. Also, I need a Sex Bob-Omb t-shirt, the one that Knives wore .... I don't know why they don't make them, either that or I haven't looked hard enough.

Stay warm and toasty peoples.... knit fast, die warm! XD

ETA: here's the Black Sheep song by Metric :D
<lj-embed id="24" />
<lj-embed id="20" />

LOL, so as you can tell, Easy A is one of my favourite movies right now. Emma Stone is just so great and it makes me wish that there was a 'Woodchuck Todd' when I was going to high school.

Anyway, sitting at home today as we have a day off (not by choice anyway, losing $$$, boo) and watching Trinity Blood on Netflix. I miss having my anime club in college, it was always so fun. Plus, it was a nice survprise for the members when I could snag some new episodes.

I have to get a package together to mail out sometime before 5pm today so this is a short entry, with no other point than I'd like to keep posting here every day as much as I can. It makes me feel better to ramble on in this journal and people can choose to read it or not rather than ramble on and bore the hell out of whoever I'm talking with.

Oh, almost forgot, if you knit, check out 'Vampire Knits' - I checked it out at the library yesterday and it's awesome! I've purused it before but now I can take a nice long look and scour my stash to see what kinds of neat things I can make from it. Also picked up 'Naked Heat' the second Nikki Heat mystery by Richard Castle! LOL I just love how it ties in with the show, it's very cool and the books are fun and quick.

Take care everyone, off to feed my Sim Hospital addiction!

But I'm very prone to getting addicted to games. Not so much into RPing anymore, well, at all really. I've kind of lost my taste for it altogether.
Hi all! Just a quick update... had a great long weekend in which there was an awesome Easter dinner and much early birthday presents coming my way. Most of the cash-specific ones were spent yesterday at Chapters and getting a really nice pair of pants that actually FIT me and look NICE! LOL

Mom crocheted me a gorgeous bamboo silk shawl that's this pretty blushy beige colour and I love it to pieces! Nana made a pair of Fetchings for me and gave me the most ginormous Laura Secord Bunny evar! I almost hated to eat him... but I ate his basket for starters! :)

And I really don't know what kind of drugs I was on this morning... it was raining, Ray left for work and I was UP! so... I cleaned off the dining room table (which was covered with clutter), took the leaf out of the table and made it smaller to have more room and voila, bigger dining room... all before I had to go to work. I have no idea what came over me.

But I will leave you with my favourite song at the moment - Ray got me 3 CDs on Thursday night for my birthday: Phoenix, Silversun Pickups, and these guys 'The Temper Trap' and I absolutely love this song! Enjoy!

<lj-embed id="16" />

So, I was futzing around in the front room on the computer when this happened:

Ray: Oh my god.
Me: What?
Ray: Sidney Crosby just scored, off Iginla!
Me: What?
I think I mentioned le coffee press that I picked up on the weekend, either here or on Plurk, I think and it is my new toy! I have had so much fun with this little manual coffee dealie that it's getting redonkulous! Ray's been watching me and laughing and saying 'omg you're so freaking cute' whenever I run to the kitchen to make him a treat.

So far, I've made regular coffee... well French Vanilla Decaf coffee (the hubby's ticker can't take too much caffeine :( ) but just the smell of it, the taste of it, perks me up. But last night, I made myself a really awesome latte when I frothed up some warm (skim!) milk with the coffee press after my coffee was ready and omg... just look!

And then, when Ray got home, I made him a Chai Latte! Which was awesome easy!

Step 1: put 2 chai teabags in the coffee press & pour water over top, let steep
Step 2: heat up milk
Step 3: fish out the tea bags and pour the milk right in with the brewed tea
Step 4: pump the coffee press filter dealie (technical terms eh?) until you've reached optimal frothiness! Dust with cinnamon/chocolate flakes/nutmeg/whatevers

And Ray proceeded to down the sucker in 2 minutes! So, I'm just trying to figure out what to make next. Any suggestions?

So that's always good in a tiny house.

Well, back at work and I'm bored, but lunch is now... and I have a pastrami sammich and some knitting for the Knitting Olympics to do and finish!
It's been a long time since I've posted here... maybe because I've been avoiding teh crazee of the net. Actually, that is the reason. I don't really like the net much anymore since there's so much crazy and hate and impatience involved with it. I won't go into it, but that's how I've been feeling... like if I go on the net, a clock starts somewhere and I'm always against it (start the signature 24 'boop beep boop beep' now).

So instead, I posted over at mine and red_bansidhe's crafting blog stitch_sisters to dip my feet back into LJ. It's working out well and I'm addicted to Plurk for instant stuff as opposed to Twitter... Plurk is much more self-contained and you can have conversations within your posts whereas on Twitter you have to go scrolling backward to see what someone was responding to. If you're on plurk, or plan to sign up, friend me: kittyvankat. (duh)

Also, I've been playing on XBox 360 a lot... let me know if you're on Xbox live and I'll friend you if I haven't done so yet. I've been playing a lot of ODST to kill things, and just generally shoot at stuff if I need to, and Kingdom for Keflings is like CRACK! Especially if you play it multiplayer like wenchfaery and I have tried.

Anyway, gonna go knit my shetland triangle for the rest of my lunch and then it's back to a horrible medical incorporation document that's eaten up my whole morning. Good thing I have Lime and Violet to listen to while doing such things - and incidentally, Miss V makes such pretty yarn! ;)

I know I complain a lot on here but still...

...I don't get some people lately. They're all snippy when I try to help, I've got people calling me at work being all bitchy from the get go... what's going on? Is there a collective rod up society's ass lately?

It's getting so I have to be overly cheerful in the morning in order to have a good day because, as the day wears on, that cheerful is chopped away bit by bit. And it's hard to be cheerful in the morning as it is.

Just kind of fed up is all; with the snark, with reading about people having to put up with unnecessary bullshit when they're genuinely good people (it's the good people that get screwed of course), with the assumptions that things have to get done NOW and not really saying so... I just kind of have to guess.

In all this, I'm trying to get a massive amount of Christmas knitting done - and that's totally my fault for waiting so long. I'm tense, and I don't need any more snark when I'm genuinely trying to be helpful or doing something nice or having concern... I don't want to be around that. I don't really deserve that when I'm actually trying to be a good person. I may be selfish at times, but at least I admit that I am. I try my best, sometimes it's not really good enough, or I totally space and am made of fail... but I actually apologize for it, profusely.

Just think before you snark people, sometimes people have good intentions or mean well and they don't deserve to be met with a snippy response to their efforts.

/rant

Anyway, I have kcountess coming over tonight to watch 24 and/or Long Way Round!!! Yay! Should be fun and I'm really looking forward to just sitting and knitting with a friend and watching some good shows! Just like Hallowe'en was awesome with red_bansidhe and shadowhawck, I love that tradition :) carving pumpkins, eatin pizza and watching the Broodwich! ;) That's the kind of stuff I like, relaxed, with friends and sharing a laugh.
