Ms paint pencil tool now shows a circle when hovering instead of accurate pixels, how would I change it back?

The round dot is what shows up when you hover with the regular pencil tool. It used to show accurate pixels for what it would draw: when you had a brush of 3 pixels it would show a 3x3 pixel circle (so a + shape), a square for 2x2, and etc for other sizes. Even a brush size of 1 now shows a small circle instead of just a pixel, which I feel like is unnecessary.

The lines are just some scribbled lines to show the actual resolution.

The brush tool also now shows a smooth circle instead of accurate pixels.

I feel like this makes it harder to tell which pixels exactly will get coloured when you draw at smaller sizes, and I'd like to find a way to change it back. I draw on ms paint semi-frequently, it wasn't like this a month or two ago, at least for me.

I've searched around in file and the settings button on the top right and haven't been able to find anything myself. I'm not tech savvy, so I'm not too sure how to proceed.

I'm also not the best at communicating details, so I'll answer any additional questions if need be.

TL;DR: the pencil tool now shows a circle when I hover instead of the actual pixels it'll paint, and I want to change it back somehow.

    Hello, Adrian Wye.

Unfortunately, Microsoft developers decided to do this. Presumably, they decided to make it very similar to a "physical" pencil with a round lead. Unfortunately, there are no developers here, and you can only fix it by redoing the source code of the Paint application. The only thing that can be recommended in this case is to write to the developers. To do this, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the Paint window and click the "Send Feedback" button on the screen that opens. The Feedback Center app opens with the appropriate section. I also recommend voting for similar reviews that have already been written. The more votes there are, the more likely it is that the developers will take note of them and make changes.
