All more enjoyable jobs than this one.
Dreadfully acted, poorly scripted and dull beyond belief.
This movie sucks so bad but there’s something sweet and blameless and pure about how bad it is. You can see the reflection of an Oscar in Ashton Kutcher’s eyes the whole time and it’s honestly the most emotionally affecting storyline in the entire film.
A film that attempts to portray Steve Jobs as a visionary hero in one scene, and in the next, knocks him down into a slave-driving asshole. It fails in most narrative aspects, creating one-dimmensional characters and unfavorable man portrayed as a hero. Most of the dialogue is weak, and uninspired, but it is the film's true downfall in the long run. The story is not handled well, and it's titular character is poor. The highest redeeming aspect of jOBS is the performance from Ashton Kutcher. He's a dead ringer of Steve Jobs, and despite the screenplay's shortcomings, manages to provide an excellent performance. jOBS is a poor film, brought up to a low level of acceptance by its lead performance. I don't think it's as terrible as some claim, but it's certainly not anything special.
There is a montage here which makes no sense - two shots which juxtapose nothing but the fact that they are images and nothing else - nothing and nothing
What a bland job.
Jobs is a biopic about the life of Steve Jobs and how he revolutionized home computing. One can easily spot the ambition of this Joshua Michael Stern drama, but the storytelling is topsy-turvy. The character design of Steve Jobs is unsatisfying too as Jobs failed to really explore his character. Can we blame Ashton Kutcher? The actor really tried and his performance dazzles when he's at peak (helped by the look! Congrats make-up team!) But when Kutcher isn’t, his efforts are contrived at worst. Jobs is skewed tone wise as well, jumping into melodramatic mediocrity in the most unexpected sequences. Another issue is the dizzying camera work and weird editing cuts.
Josh Gad, man I love you, but I kept hearing Olaf when you speak.
This movie exists.
Someone thought Ashton Kutcher could make Steve Jobs a compelling character.
Someone thought the cheesy, ridiculously on-the-nose music cues could make up for a total lack of emotional connection.
Someone thought that putting 100 speeches in the movie would compensate the total lack of engaing storytelling, character arc or conflict.
Someone thought "Let's make another Social Network" without remotely getting what made the Social Network one of the best movies of the decade.
This movie sucks so hard it is unbelievable. I know I'm not breaking any new ground here. I know the movie is so bad they made another one literally two years later. But still.. it's so shockingly awful.
