🦶Does nail surgery hurt?

Nail surgery is performed under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. You may experience some pressure or discomfort afterwards as the anaesthetic wears off. I’ll provide clear aftercare advice to help you through the healing process.

⏱️ How long does nail surgery take?

The procedure itself is usually relatively quick, although appointment times can vary depending on the nail and treatment required. I’ll explain everything beforehand and make sure you’re comfortable before proceeding.

👣 What happens during an appointment?

Your appointment will begin with an assessment of your foot and the problem you’re experiencing. We’ll discuss your symptoms, treatment options and any questions you have before agreeing on the most appropriate treatment. You’ll also receive advice on aftercare and preventing the problem from returning where appropriate.

🩺 Do I need a GP referral?

No — you can contact me directly to arrange an appointment. A GP referral is generally not required for private podiatry treatment. If your condition requires medical input outside of podiatry, I’ll advise you accordingly.

🎒 What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring any relevant medical information, a list of medications you’re taking and details of any allergies or medical conditions. For foot-related appointments, it can also be helpful to bring or wear the footwear you normally use.

💷 How much does treatment cost?

Treatment prices vary depending on the type of appointment, treatment required and location. Please see my Treatment & Services information and Nail Surgery Price Guide for current prices. Swansea clinic £35, Merthyr Tydfil £30.

📍 Where are you based?

I currently provide appointments at clinics in Swansea and Merthyr Tydfil. Please use the clinic links on my Linktree for the individual locations and booking information.

🩹 How long is recovery after nail surgery?

Healing time varies from person to person and depends on the procedure and the individual nail. It many cases its a threshold between 4-8 weeks. You’ll receive personalised aftercare instructions following your treatment, including guidance on dressing changes, footwear and activity.

🚗 Can I drive after nail surgery?

It’s best to arrange alternative transport where possible on the day of nail surgery. The local anaesthetic can temporarily affect sensation in your foot, and you should not drive until you are fully recovered and can safely and legally control your vehicle. If in doubt, please arrange someone to take you home.

👶 Do you treat children?

Yes, children can be seen for podiatry assessment and treatment where appropriate. Treatment will always be tailored to the child’s age, needs and individual circumstances. If you’re unsure whether podiatry is suitable for your child, please get in touch before booking.
