First off, happy first day of August.
That being said..wow. Oh my God, what a day today has been. I'm not joking..I must have had a lucky horse shoe up my ass or something. *laugh* Let me further explain...
I haven't been sleeping much lately..I think the past two nights, the earliest I managed to crawl into bed was 3am. I've literally had so much pent up energy and I've been bouncing off the walls, giddy. Don't ask me what brought it about..I have no idea, but I hope it's long-lived and sticks around for quite a while. I could really use it. My post last night..and searching for various music videos of simply put..classic songs from the 80's and 90's that not only had the ability to make you extremely happy and bouncy..but also manage to take you back to a time when things were more than pretty damn spectacular. I love music..karaoke, dancing..no wonder why serious studies have been conducted on the benefits of musical therapy. :)
So, yeah..I was giddy, hyper as all hell, singing karaoke and dancing in my room until 3am last night. I wasn't the least bit tired. So I revisited old school..we're talking Michael Jackson's Bad, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation, and of course..Paula Abdul's Shut up and dance.
Anyways...so I wake up and get ready for work..where I screen printed 330 red t-shirts for MHS band, did a Chi Omega sew on lettering shirt..and some other stuff. But..that's not the good stuff.
It all started when I was listening to 102 WVAQ. I heard a familiar voice, and recognized it as mine..from a lunch time request some time last week. **I had given up on it, when I requested and Meghan said she would look for it in their system, when it didn't play during the lunch hour..I figured they didn't have it.** "I was wondering if you could play something by Janet Jackson." **I had requested Rhythm Nation. So, immediately after my recorded voice of my lunch time request last week played..Rhythm Nation dominated the air-waves. OH HELL YEAH~!! I was the only one in the store at that point, my dad had run to Vintage Video and Games..so I busted out all karaoke style and dancing while printing shirts. SCORE! So, then I called the station.
Ring, ring, click.
Meghan: VAQ!
Me: Hi Meghan, I was wondering if you could play We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel.
Meghan: Sure thing, let me look for it.
Me: Ok! Thank you!
Two songs later...We Didn't Start the Fire dominated the air-waves. OH HELL YEAH!!! Two song requests played! Freakin' awesome. :)
So then, around 12:30..it was time for Meghan's Movie Clip. I listened..not really expecting to recognize it.
Male voice 1: LAPD, get out of the car.
Male Voice 2: No, no, no! I'm a black man..but this is my car! It's not stolen!
Male voice 1: It is now.
*wheels turning* I recognized the actor who was male voice 1 as Keanu Reeves. *Deductive reasoning* Think..Keanu Reeves..as a LAPD. Think.. Lakehouse? No. Parenthood? No. Bill and Ted's Adventures? No. Bram Stokers Dracula? No. Speed? Holy crap! *rushes to the phone in the back room and dials 296-0027 (WVAQ studio).
*Ring, ring, click.*
Meghan: VAQ!
Me: Is it Speed? *surprised at first that I actually got through..and not entirely sure if I was right in my answer*
Meghan: *pause* Speed is absolutely correct! Who's this?
Me: *stunned* Erica!
Meghan: Well, Erica, I am so hooking you up girl! You just won a gift certificate for Damon's Grill *they sponsor the You say it, We play it lunch*; a gift certificate from Waterfront Spa and Salon; and two tickets to the invitation-only 20th Anniversary Celebration for Lacy Neff this friday night at De Lazy Lizard! How's that sound?!
Me: *still in shock* Oh my God, that's awesome!! :)
Meghan: Hang on one second for me, k?
Me: Ok!
Meghan: Ok, Erica. What's your last name?
Me: Sapp. S-A-P-P.
Meghan: Address?
Me: ********. ***** is one word. Morgantown, WV.
Meghan: Phone number?
Me: 304 292 - ****
Meghan: Ok, now..I have one question for you. For your gift certificate to Waterfront Spa and Salon..do you want a haircut, a pedicure, a cut and color, a facial or a massage?
Me: *thinks* I'll go with the massage.
Meghan: Ok, Swedish or deep tissue?
Me: *pause* Uh..I don't know what the difference is.
Meghan: *laugh* Me either! We'll hook you up though. :)
Me: Ok! :)
Meghan: Just come by the studio between 8:30am and 5 Monday - Friday to pick them up.
Me: Ok! :)
So then..I called my mom.
*ring, ring, answering machine*
When she picked up.
Me: Mom, Oh my gosh! You'll never believe this! Ok, so last week I made a request for Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson, and they finally played it today. Then I called and requested We didn't start the fire by Billy Joel and she played it. So I got two request in for the show. And, I won a gift certificate at Damon's Grill, a Waterfront Salon & Spa gift certificate for a massage and tickets to the invite only party for Lacy Neff this friday night; for guessing Meghan's Movie Clip!!!! Squee!!
