Party redux
Despite the weather, we some damn excellent times!
About 11 folks showed up on Saturday night despite the storm.
And then about 13 folks showed up on Sunday to the Plan B party.
We watched _Dr Horrible's Singalong Blog_ both days, both times showing it to folks who'd never seen it!
There was great food, of course.
Excellent conversations were conversed.
We did some mad science and managed to not blow up the microwave after all. (It has a built in anti-mad science fail safe! Who'da thunk it?)
We played with LEGO!
I got some lovely and thoughtful gifts, I love them all, but there were two standouts well worth mentioning:
1) A Xaphoon! It's a plastic version of the increasingly popular "bamboo saxophone". Not only is the plastic going to be much more likely to survive my rough and tumble trade, but it's GREEN! It's a whole new challenge and musical direction for my arsenal. I'll get to slowly transform very loud and rude noises into music!
2) PLASMA BALL! I've always wanted one, and even now that the prices are affordable by humans, I just hadn't ever gotten around to getting one for myself. So double strike bonus scored here with filling a longtime void AND nailing the "Mad Science" theme!
Also, one of the guests on Friday penned a positively brilliant little bit of parody to put into a greeting card:
Twas snowig and the Party Goers
Did Skidde & Rear-Endde on the way
All antsy was the Byrththe-Deigh Bhouyyye
And the Snough-Plowwws did Sleigh
Beware the Marche of Tyme, my son!
The years go Bye, the Flesh doth Droope,
Yet wish Wish The Day's Many Returns, and soon
the glorious sun will scoop!
So all in all, it wasn't the record breaker that we expected, but it was still a come-from-behind-triumph (my specialty), and a lovely weekend overall.
Thanks to EVERYONE, brave, stubborn, resourceful and resilient who came and made this weekend ROCK!
