英語の勉強(Is the electricity your company uses renewable?)

I want all companies, factories, establishments and governments in Japan to switch to sustainable energy sources. I think they can highlight their use of green energy as part of their CSR initiatives.

I learned today that Japan has a low sustainable energy adoption rate despite its leading worldwide power generation capacity, according to the articles below.

Its resource self-sufficiency ratio is also very low.

Energy production is the main cause of global warming, so shifting to renewables would be a great solution.

We should scrutinize each electricity company's energy mix and its green energy ratio, as it's hard to tell from the surface who's truly providing sustainable power. Many companies say on their websites to provide virtually renewable energy - something allowed if they support sustainable projects, plant trees, or take similar actions - even though they still generate CO2-emitting electricity.

If we all chose green energy providers, greenhouse gas emissions would drop significantly. 

However, I dislike the privacy policies of most zero-emissions energy companies. I'm picky about data handling, and since energy is a lifeline utility, they should minimize collection and sharing with group companies. I'm not sure but, I guess they might use behavior targeting ads, which I don't like, as can be read in their privacy policy.

It's natural that companies often prioritize their own convenience, so if I dislike it, I simply choose not to use it or recommend it to others - even though I really want to.

They seem like really remarkable great companies. It's a shame not to be able to use them. If they collected only the minimum necessary data and didn't share it with their group companies, I would be happy to use their electricity.

Now I'm trying to live without contacting my electricity or gas company for several months. It's very hard, especially in winter. I use portable solar panels, charge my laptop at cafes, as minimally as possible, and rely on public baths, hot springs, showers before and after using swimming pools, and sometimes take a cold shower. It's hard, and I never recommend it, but I learned a lot. Maybe someday I'll write about it.

I wrote a lot, but although Japan can generate a relatively large amount of green energy, it might not be enough for all of us right now. We should try to conserve as much energy as possible in our daily lives, and I want companies, factories, establishments and governments to consider installing solar panels on their roofs without cutting down the surrounding trees, and proudly showcase them on their websites.
